Description

NOV. 24, 1931. R, MORENUS 1,833,223
GAME INDICATOR Filed Febv 10, 1930 IN VEN TOR R. FMORENL/i A TTORNEY Patented Nov. 24, 1931 nonnn'rr. nonnnos, or PORTLAND; OREGON GAME INDICATOR Application filed February 10,1930. Serial No. 427,142.
This invention relates generally to the game of golf, and particularly to devices for assisting the playerin keeping track of the game, especially the number of strokes made.
The main object of this invention is to provide an exceedingly simple and eflicient form of game indicator whereby a players prog ress may be recorded withoutthe necessity of a paper and pencil and without the use of an expensive or cumbersome counting mechanism.
The second object is to produce an indicator which can be worn on the wrist after the fashion of a Wrist watch and which will not project from the surface of the players wrist in an objectionable manner.
The third object is to produce an indicator for golf players which will be so easy to manufacture and of such a nature as to adapt 2 itself readily for advertising purposes.
These, and other objects, will become more apparent from the specification following as illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in
which: 7 I Figure 1 is a plan of the device. Figure 2 is a side elevation thereof. Figure 3 shows same in use. Similar numbers of reference refer to similar parts throughout the views.
80 Referring in detail to the drawings, the device consists of a wristlet 10 at one end. of
which is attached a buckle 11 and at the other end of which is formed a buckle strap 12.
On the wristlet 10 and longitudinal there-v with are the spaced indicator straps 13 and 14: which are attached thereto by means of the staples 15, or in any other convenient manner, the fastenings being only at'the opposite ends ofthe straps 13 and 1 1.
4 On each strap 13 and 1 1 are form-ed the numerals 16 which range from zero to nine on each strap. Also on each strap 13 and 14 is placed a sliding buckle 17 which can be moved along the entire length of its strap for 4 the purpose of directing attention to some I particular numeral. 7 In operation the wristlet 10 is secured to the wrist 18 of the player, as shown in Figbuckle 17 on the left hand strap 13 is moved along until it reaches 9. The next step requires that the buckle 17 on the strap 13 be moved to the numeral 1 and additional strokes are registered on the strap 14 until 56 it again becomes necessary to shift the buckle on the strap 13.
It can thus be seen that this arrangement readily adapts itself to the various styles of play common to the game of golf, and that 0 the operation thereof requires a minimum amount of skill, although the device is capable of quickly and satisfactorily indicating the numberof strokes that have been taken.
While the device itself is preferably made of leather, it is plain that any suitable substitute therefor can be employed without departing from the spirit of this invention.-
I claim:
1. A game indicator for golf players consisting of a wristlet having means for fastening same to the wrist of a player, a plurality of indicator straps having the ends thereof secured to said wristlet, each ofsaid straps having a sequence of numerals displayed thereon, each of said straps havin g a slidable buckle mounted between its fastened ends,
each of said buckles constituting a marker to be used to draw attention to the surrounded numeral.
2. A golf game indicator the combination of a wristlet having a wide wrist-encircling portion and reduced ends, one of said re-' duced ends having a buckle formed thereon adapted to engage the other reduced end, a pair oflongitudinal strap members mounted on said wristlet parallel to and spaced from each otherand fastened ateach end to said wristlet, each of said straps having a series of numerals thereon numbered from O to 9, each of said straps having a buckle thereon adapted to slide between said fastened ends, said buckles constituting markers for said numerals. i
