lANGLER Pac'1r-192m,'fv.v f
Application filed March 24.71931. vsejaiim. 5 Va4,s99. .f
The obj ect of my present invention, broad# ly speaking, is the provision of an angler packet of novel construction and arrangement, by the employment lof which` a iisherman will be able to carry his hooks in a neat and compact, form whereby the hooks Ywill not become damaged in transport or the angler become injured by thehooks; and further, to provide a neat and compact Portmonnaie of novel arrangement, and which can'be manufactured and sold at a comparatively low price.
And, finally, my object is to provide a new article of manufacture which combines with its utilitarian qualities, meansfor carrying and displaying advertising matter thereon, whereby Athe advertising matter will be preserved indefinitely.
Other minor objects and particular advantages of this invention will suggest them@- selves in the course of the following description relating thereto.
i The preferred means for carrying out the principles of my invention in a practical andan efiicient manner is shown in the accompanying drawings, in which-Figure l is a plan view of my complete assembly opened out, showingthe inside thereof. Figure 2 is the same as Fig. l, except that the suspensory device is opened and the hools omitted therefrom. y
Figure 3 is a longitudinal central section of the device, as taken onthe line 3 3 of Fig. 2.' Figure 4 is a central cross section of the device, as taken on the line lr-el of Fig. 2. And Figure 5 is a perspective view of the complete ypacket in closed condition.
Similar indices denote like partsthroughout the several views. c v
In order that the construction, arrangement, and the advanta es of my invention' may be more fully un erstood and appreciated, I will now take up a description thereof, in which I will set forth the same as fully and as comprehensively as I may.
The case or main 'portion of my device is formed by a single piece of suitable material, such as leather or the like, which is folded on the lines'A and B, whereby the case is dividedinto three distinctY parts printed.
integral with each other,-and comprising the central body portion "1; the inner flap portion l2 andthe outerflap porti"on=3.f if
lNlurnera'l 4 Ydenotes theV hanger, the same:y being formed lof single piece of sheet metal, doubled viiatrupofn its'elf, -forminga Y tubular'portion 14 at the fold. `Said hanger islocated horizontally in the center'ofthe bodyport'ionl, at vthe upper edge ofthe body'portion, by; -means of Athe rivets-5,150
.which -riv'ets'pass through the double thickness of the hanger L@with the two edges of the hanger 4 located'substantiallyeven 'with the upper'edge of the Abody l.
^ Inlconnectionwith'saidhanger I emp oy a 'f' suspensory device, consisting of a stemf 6y which fits; revolvably'in the tubular member 4', and-havingthe angularly disposedv arms 7 and 8 atthe respective endsthereof.y Numeral Q'denotes the'prong', one endI of which ter-` minates in a sharp'point 9.`-The `other end of the prong 9 is integrally unitedV with-the free :endrof the ,armi 7 by meansoffthefcoil spring 1( );Whereby theprong 9- is "normally 'andi resiliently 'retained insubstantially-'the y'75V position in which ,it is shown vinV Fig. 2Q The free end Vof the arm' 8 `carries theyeateh `11, which is adapted'to receive the pointedend 'portionof the Nprong9,wherebythe point 9 may `be fully enclosed.V Vandlprotected,Las shown in Fig."1.fj' i f s -2 The snap fastenery comprises thef'm'ale 'member 12, and the'yfemale member.V 13. ,The male memberhas a stud 12" `projecting outward centrally.1thereof;*=while the female member has a socket 13 formed concentri-y ca'lly` therein vandv opening inwardly, to'freceive the stud' 12" therein by compression.v
Letters-C, AD- and E-"denote fish-hooks, or angling-hooks, for the carrying Vand protection of which is the purpose of this in-` vention. c
My construction is vadapted Yto contain advertising"matter, to be printed thereon, as for` instance the words Izaak Walton Angler, as shown'in Fig. l, which in this instance is more of an identification means, as Vit may in place thereof be the name of the owner of the packet on which it is In practice any desired number of fishhooks may be lstrung on the prong 9, after which the prong may be sprung up to cause the pointed end 9' to enter the catch 11, after which the'member 2 may be folded in upon the hooks, and the member 3 is then folded inward over a portion of the member 2,7with the studplQ," 'contacting with the mouth of the socket 13', then by pressing the member 13 toward themember y12 the stud will be driven into the socket, `thereby securing the packet in its closed position, as in Fig. 5. To open the packet one vhas only 4to pull the members 12 and 13 apart andvthen open out the members 2 andY 3, as in Fig. 3,. ater which one or more of theV hooks Y(3,71) and E 'may 'be removed from the prongg), or
other hooks may be placed thereon.
p, Itiwiil be apprehended that While thisdevice, as .shown and described herein, is very simple and may appear infinitesimal inrcharacter., yet it will afford a great .amount of satisfaction, and the avoidance Vo-l much trouble .and irritation, and a high degree of safety, whereby. the advantages .thereof to the angler Q will be immensurate and delectable. -f Y I ldesire :that it be understood that various changes may be made in the several. detail-s, from that shown and described, without :de- :parting from the spirit-of the .invention :and Without :sacrificing anyl of the advantages thereof which are new and useful.
Having new `fully shown and` described my invention, what I claim andidesire to secure vby Letters Patent of .the United An angler packet comprising a three-part with the parts thereof adapted to fold together., :a hanger .secured .across Vthe top of I fthe central portion of said case and form-ing a tubular: ortion at its lower e-y e a fsuspensory device'comprising -astem rotatable in ysaid .tubular` portion, farms extending :downwardly Yfrom the. ends of .said steun-a prong having Vone' end thereof integrally e `connected withoneof saidfarms `by means of a spring,`fanda catch carried by thelower end vof thelother one of .said arms and adapted vto detachably :secure the free -end ofsaid prong. .Y Y
4In testimony whereof I have hereunto sub- Y. scribed my name to this specification.
