'33 and with which the partitions can be easily engaged and disengaged; which is small in size and compact in shape; whlch hes flat against the partitions and preserves the corner shape without reducingthe displayor l storage space in trays or drawers; and which can be made in'simple stamping operations.
In the accompanying drawings I have illustrated selected embodiments of the invention 7 and referring thereto, 7
Fig. l is a bottom planview showing a four way clip applied to three partitions.
Fig. 2 shows the clip at one step of the stamping operation. w Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the completed clip. Fig. 4 is a bottom plan "IQWSIIOWHIg a three way clip applied to two partitions.
F 5 is a perspective view of a three way Fig. 6 shows a clip for a partition end.
The clip is preferably made of spring metal by stamping, can be made of other materials, and by other methods. When a four way clip is made of thin sheet metal by stamping 'it is cut from a blank in the manner indicated in 2 with four wings 6 arranged in pairs, the wings of eachpair being spaced apart by a connect ng strip 7 and the two pairs and the connecting 495 stripsbeing separated by a transverse base strip 8. A margin strip 9 surrounds the wings and is integrally connected to the outer ends of the connecting strips 7 and the base strip 8. The cut blank is bent to the form shown in Fig. 3, the transverse strip 8 forming the base of the clip, the margin strip and the connecting strip 7 forming two skeleton clamp members 10 spaced apart and ini tegrally connected by the base strip, and each pair .of wings 6 being bent to form clamp but forsome purposes it 1928; Serial No. 258,540.
wings which project outward in pairs centrally from the clamp members 10. The wings 6 are shown projecting at substantially right angles from the clamp members 10, but
this angular disposition of the wings may be changed if desired. The base strip and the clamp members comprise a channel member adapted to receive a partition and the wings are mounted on one or both clamp members to receive a partition or partitions abutting the clamp members.
My invention will be found especially useful for holding glass or other partitions or dividers used on counters for displaying notions and other small goods in stores. Along partition 11 is seated on the base strip 8 between the clamp members 10 and two other partitions 12, 12 are engaged between the clamp wings 6, and are abutted against the connecting strips 7 to form a neat closed four corner joint. The clamp members 10 and the wings 6 are bent slightly inward to tightly grasp'the partitions. Instead of the long partition 11 two partitions like 12 may be used with their ends abutting.
The three way clip is made in the same way except that only one pair of wings is provided, Figs. 4c, 5.
To support the outer end of a partition at the outer'wall of a counter, for example, I provide a clip, as shown in Fig. 6, which is a part formation of the three-way clip of Figs. 4 and 5 before the clamp members 10 and bent to substantially parallel position. This single clip is adapted to be inserted in a joint between the top and the rim of a counter, to lie used for many other purposes than those herein specifically mentioned and while I have shown it informs entirely satisfactory commercially I reserve the right to make all changes therein within the scope of the following claims.
I claim:
1. A clip comprising a pair of Wings, a strip connecting said wings at their inner ends, a pair of clamp members, a base strip connecting said clamp members and connected to the lower end of the connecting strip,
one of saidclamp members comprising a margin strip connected to the ends of the base strip and to the upper end of the connecting strip H U 2. A bracket of the character described composed of a single piece of sheet metal and comprising a base member, and two upstanding side members bent up from the edge portions of the base member to form a partition receiving channel therebetween, at least one of said side members having two laterally projecting wing portions formed from the material of said side member and bent'out fromthe middle portion thereof to-form a partition receiving channel between them.
3. A bracket of the character described composed of a single piece of sheet metal and comprising a flat base member, and twonpstanding converging side members bent up from the edge portions of the base member to form apartition receiving channel therebei composed of a single piece of sheet metal and:
standing converging side members bent from the edge portions of the basemember to i tween :them.
tween, at least one of said members having two laterally projecting and converging wing portions formed from the material of said side member and bent out from the middle portion thereof to form .a partition receiving channel between them.
4. A bracket of the character described composed ofa single piece ofsheet metal and comprisinga flat base member, and two upstanding side members. bent up from the edge portions of the base member to. form a partr tion receiving channel therebetween, each side member having two laterally projecting wingportions formed from the material of the side member and bent out from'the middle portion thereof, the wing portions of the two side members being oppositely disposed and formlng al gned partition rece ving channels.

5. A bracket of;'tl1e character described 1' comprising a flat base member, and two up standing SlClG. members bent up from the edge v portions of the-base member to form apartition receiving channel therebetween, at least I one of said side members havingupri'ght end portions, a middle upright portion and "a horizontal top portion, and there being two wings projecting laterally from the side edges of the middle upright portion and composed of the material struck forming a 7 (LA bracket of the character described composed of a single piece of sheet metal and comprising a fiat base-member, and two upup between, the end por-I tions and the middle portion, said wings partition receiving channel be-
