This invention relates to containers` for i cold cream or the like.

One object ofthe -invention is ,tol `provide a container suitable for use as a toilet ad cessory.

A further object of theinvention is to provide a container having as a receptacle for' cold cream, or the like, a porcelain .-.linerand outer casing of- `thin metal fromwhich ithe lliner can be readily removed whenk empty and a new liner substituted.

Another object of the invention is ;to provide an outer metal casing for an inner por,- `celain liner, said casing having meansthereon for attaching a lid thereto, and .whereby the liner may be securely .fastened within said casing. v i

The container illustrated in Figures 1 and 2 comprises an outer cylindrical casing, 1,

formed of thin metal, a cap 2 having fasl tened thereto an ornamental knob or ,linger grip 3, a luted ringor collar 4 also oftliin lmetal `surrounding the 'depending portion of thecap 2, a bottom `5, a fluted basefshell r6 and a. porcelain liner7 fastened within the f casing land provided With a cardboard disk cover 8. l

.collar 1.1. The bottom 5 of the casing 1 ,is dished having an outer annular portion 9 adjacent the yinner periphery of which a plurality of slots 12 are provided for the purpose hereinafter described.

The collar 11 at the bottom of the .casing is covered by an annular luted base shell 6 which is slipped Vover the collar 11. and over sthe annular portion 9 of the bottom. For .the purpose of fasteningthe fiutedbase shell 6 to the bottom 'ofthe casing 1, thev shell 6 is provided with an inwardly exten ding horizontal flange 111, having an internal `diamleter substantially correspondingwith that of the annular portion 9, and having tongue 4members 13 at spaced intervals thereon.

These tongue members are adapted to engage in the slots 12 in the bottom 5 previously referred to. Afterfthe tongue members have .been inserted through the corresponding slots 12 in the bottom they are bent over the vedge of the annular portion 9 of the casing, thus securely fastening the luted shell 6in position. y

The top portion of the casing 1 is also of reduced diameter forming an annular collar 22 which is exteriorly and interiorly threaded. By using thin material for the casing a single thread pro-vided therein is available yfor use as an exterior and interior thread.

The .lower portion of the liner 7 is: of a diameter such that it Will fit within the reduced annular portion at the bottom of the casing, and the upper portion is provided with exterior threads 15 corresponding to the inner threads 10 on the collar of the casing. By means of thesecorresponding threads the :liner may be fastened within the casing.

The cap 2 of the casing, which is preferably made out ofthe same material as the casing, isprovided with an annular depending flange 16 having inner threads 17 thereon which are adapted to cooperate with the exterior threads 18 on the collar ofthe casing so that the cap may ,be` screwed down lightly on to the i;

casing and grip the cardboard disc cover S over the rim ofthe liner.

A luted ring 4 is provided to encircle the depending flange 16 on the lid and this serves tocover the flange threads 17 and to ornament the lid and the container. The ring t is fastened to the flange 16 by spinning the lower port-ion thereof about a shoulder 19 on the lower edge of said flange.

rlhe lid 2 is also provided with an ornamental handle or finger grip 3 and this may be attached in any suitable manner. The cardboard disk cover 8 which is provided for the liner 7 may, if desired, be attached to the cap 2.

From the foregoing description it will be readily seen that I have provided a novel and useful container for cold cream, or the like, in which the receptacle for the cold cream may be readily inserted and removed from the casing without destroying the usefulness of the casing as a toilet accessory.

In the modified form of my invention, illustrated in Figure 3, I have shown a container of the same general shape as that shown in Figure 1 in which the outer metal casing is provided with a hinged cap with snap fastening means for opening and closing same. T he porcelain liner in this modification is preferably provided with. a separate cover of the same material. Fitting over the upper threaded collar 22 of the casing is an annular member 20 having at one side thereof one part 25 of a hinge 23, and having at the opposite side thereof a projecting catch member 26 of a snap fastener. The annular member 2O maybe secured to the collar 22 of the casingin any suitable manner, as for instance by spinning the upper edge of the collar over the upper edge of such member.

rlhe cap 2 is provided with a depending cylindrical flange 16, having at one side thereof a hinge portion adapted to cooperate with the part 25 of the hinge 23 on the annular member 20, and provided at t-he other side thereof with the complementary portion 27 of a snap fastener.

The depending flange 1G is covered by a fluted ring 1i which is connected thereto by spinning the lower edge thereof about a shoulder or beading 19 on the bottom edge of the flange. in order to accommodate the hinge 23, the fluted ring 4 is recessed at one side. thereof a width corresponding to that of the hinge so that the hinge will appear as a part of a beading encircling the container; the other portion of such beading being formed by the lower part of the fluted 'ring 1 which is spun about the shoulder 19, on the lower edge of the depending cylindrical flange on the lid.

The fluted member is of frusto conical form so that aY space is provided between the inner surface thereof and the outer surface of the cylindrical flange on the lid in which the catch member 26 is accommodated.

F'astened within the lid by means of catches 28 a resilient disk member 21 is mounted which is provided with a plurality of annular corrugations towards its outer circumference for increasing its resiliency. The catch members 2S are pressed outwardly from an annular rim on the disk member and engage the lower shoulder of peripheral recess 24 in the lid. A cardboard disk member 29 is provided as a covering for the resilient disk member.

The purpose of the disk member 21 is to provide resilient means for pressing down upon the: cover of the liner when the lid is closed thereby forming an air-tight inner receptacle for the contents of the jar. The lid of the container has the usual finger grip or handle afHXed thereto.

I claim:

1. A toilet accessory comprising an inner container of porcelain, whose walls at the upper portion thereof are spaced apart a distance equal to or greater than that at any other part of said container, a fitted cap for said container, an outer metal casing, an inner thread provided on the upper portion of said metal casing, a thread provided on the periphery of the upper portion of the inner container adapted to engage directly with the inner thread on the casing for detachably connecting the upper portion of the casing to the inner container, a lid for the casing, an annular depending portion on said lid and means on said annular depending portion adapted to co-operate with means on said casing for connecting the lid to the casing.

2. A toilet accessory comprising an inner container of porcelain, a fitted cap for said container, an outer metal easing, an inner thread provided on the upper portion of said metal casing, a thread provided on the periphery of the upper portion of the inner container adapted to engage directly with the inner thread on the casing for detachably connecting the upper portion of the casing to the inner container, a lid for the casing, an annular depending portion on said lid, means on said annular depending portion adapted to cooperate with means on said casing for connecting the lid to the casing, and an annular member encircling the depending portion of said lid and adapted to oin with said connecting means to form a beading encircling the container.

A toilet accessory comprising an inner container of porcelain, an outer metal casing, means on said casing adapted to cooperate directly with means on said inner container for detachably connecting the upper portion of the outer casing to the inner container, a lid for the outer casing, an annular depending portion on said lid, means on said annular depending portion for fastening the lid to the casing and an annular member encircling the depending portion of said lid and adapted to cover the fastening means.

A toilet accessory comprising an inner container of porcelain, a fitted cap for said container, an outer metal casing, an inner the lid to the casing, snap fastening means -oppositely located on said depending lid portion and said casing for closing the container and an annular member encircling the depending portion of said lid and adapted to join with the hinge members to form a beading encircling the container and to cover said snap fastening means.

5. A toilet accessory comprising an inner container of porcelain, a. fitted porcelain cover for said container, an outer metal casing, an inner thread provided on theI upper portion of said metal casing, a thread provided on the periphery of the upper portion of the inner container adapted to engage with the inner thread on the casing for detachably connecting the upper portion of the casing to the inner container, a lid for the casing, a resilient disk member mounted within said lid for pressing down upon the fitted porcelain cap of the inner container and forming an air tight closure for the inner container, an annular depending portion on said lid, means on said annular depending portion adapted to cooperate With means on said casing for connectin the lid to the casing, and an annular mem er encircling the depending portion of said lid and adapted to join with said connecting means to form a beading encircling the container.

A toilet accessory comprising an inner container of porcelain, a fitted porcelain cover for said container, an outer metal casing, an inner thread provided on the upper portion of said metal casing, a thread provided on the periphery of the upper portion of the inner container adapted to engage With the inner thread on the casing for detachably connecting the upper portion of the casing to the inne-r container, a lid for the casing, a resilient disk member mounted Within said lid for pressing down upon the fitted porcelain cap of the inner container and forming an air tight. closure for the inner container, an annular dependin portion on said lid, cooperating hinge mem ers on said depending lid portion and said casing for connecting the lid to the casing, snap fastening means oppositcly located on said depending lid portion and said casing for closing the container and an annular member encircling the depending portion of said lid and adapted to join with the hinge members to form a beading encircling the container and to cover said snap fastening means.

7. A toilet accessory comprising an inner container of porcelain, a fitted porcelain cover for said container, an outer metal casing, an inner thread provided on the upper portion of said metal casing, a thread provided on the periphery of the upper portion of the inner container adapted to engage With the inner thread on the casing for detachably connecting the upper portion of the casing to the inner container, a lid for the casing, a resilient disk member provided with a plurality of annular corrugations towards its outer circumference mounted Within said lid, cooperating means on said disk member and on said lid for fastening the disk member Within the lid, an annular depending portion on said lid and means on said annular portion for fastening the lid to the casing.
