HAIR FASTENER Application filed February 28, 1931 The main object of this invention is the provision of a device to assist women with hair of medium length, particularly those whose hair has been bobbed and who are now permitting it to grow long, to do up their hair properly during the time that the hair remains of a length between that of bobbed hair and that of so-called long hair.

Another object of the invention is to pro vide such a device so that it will be unnoticeable to an observer, and so that the hair when done up with the device will have the appearance of longer hair.

Still another object is the provision of such 1 a device of simple construction and one which is inexpensive in cost of manufz'icture.

Referring briefly to the drawings, 1 is a perspective view of the application of the device to a womans hair.

Referring in detail to the drawings, the numeral 10 represents the core of the device which is preferably formed of stranded flexible wire of copper or other material, made endless by joining the ends in any dosirable manner. A layer of material such as absorbent cotton or any other padding material surrounds the core, as shown at 11. A covering 12 surrounds the layer 11, and may be of any desirable material or color.

The thickness of the sides of the device lessens from the center to the ends, the ends being of least diameter as shown at 13, to provide substantially pointed ends l i on the device. This is desirable since the device is flexible in that the two opposite sides are resilient and the pivots of movement of the sides toward or away from each other are the ends lat.

In use, the hair is combed or brushed down to form a tuft of the ends of the hair, and this tuft is inserted in the device between its two sides. The sides are then brought Serial No. 518,999.

together with the hair between, and the hair is rolled up about the device to the position shown in Fig. 1, the resiliency of the device causing the rolled up portion to remain snug and tight. Finally, hair pins 15 are inserted as desired to prevent the roll of hair from undoing.

Obviously modifications inform and structure of the device may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the in vention.

I claim:

1. A device of the class described comprising a resilient endless core having oppositely disposed arcuate sides joined at the ends,said core having a cover of flexible material, the diameter of said sides being largest at the middle and lessening toward the ends.

2. A device of the class described comprising a resilient endless core having oppositely disposed arcuate side's joined at the ends, a layer of cotton or the like surrounding said core, a cover of flexible material surrounding said layer, the sides of the device being of greatest diameter at the middle and tapering toward the ends. 7
