I 7 Application filed February 15, 1929. Serial No. 340,258. I This invention relatesto an article of manfume to the garment. This embodiment of ufacture providing means foremitting or disthe invention contemplates the combination pensing an odoriferous commodity, the arof a necklace or means of attachment 10, the
H ticlebeing capable of-being Worn by a person ornament 11, which forms a housing, a supas anarticle of jewelryor located in a room port 12 ,for the ornament, which support is or any other desired place. r i 1 I attached to the necklace, and an element .l3 The invention hasas its principal object the which provides a container for the perfume.
production of anJarticle which provides an The opposite ends Pic-14 of the necklace 10 article of jewelry which will perform the are secured to one end of the support 12 and dual function of adispenserfor perfume and this support has an enlargement 15, provided adornment for the person. atits opposite end, which acts as astop to The inventionhas as a further object the limit movementof the ornament and thus provision of a construction havingtheabove retains all of the elements of this structure characteristics, which is capable of being in proper relationto each other when worn readily recharged with the perfume or odorby the person. The support 12 forms a means iferous commodityand in which the part to which the perfume or commodity container providing the container will. be concealed 13 may be attached or be supported. The. from view by the part forming the ornaornament 11 is provided with-the longitudis ment. nally extending bore 16, havingtherelative It is another object of the inventionto proly large portion 17 and the reduced portion 18. vide a container for odoriferous commodities When this article iswornwby the person, which will retain the commodity in a liquefied theornament 11- assumes a position with reform and allow its, consumption by, evaporae spect to the other elements of the structure in l tion and to construct the containerof a mawhich the end 19 of the ornament rests against 7 terial which is of a non-absorbent character the enlargement or stop 15, and since the diand which will retain an amount of the comameter of the container substantially corremodity sufiicient to suliice for. a certain pe sponds with the diameter of the portion '17 riod. When it is desired to charge the commodity In the drawing, 1 container 13, the-ornament 11 ismoved up- Fig. 1 is a central longitudinal section of a wardly relatively to the support12 and along device embodying a construction whereby the the'necklace 10, which. will expose the con various advantages may be accomplished. tainer and allow it to be dipped into the per- I Fig. 2 is a view showing the elements of fume or other commodity, after which the 9 Fig. 1 in a changed position. a I ornament 1 1 is again, brought to a position Fig. 3 is a sectional view taken on the line relatively to the container, in which it 'forms 1 3-3 of Fig. 1. 3 afhousing for the container. It is evident The structure illustrated in Fig. 1 discloses that when the container is charged anda'ra combination of elements which, when comranged inthe manner just referred'to, that bined with each other, produce an article as'the perfume evaporates it escapes through which serves the dual capacity of an adornthe opening 18 and betweentheend 19 of mentfor the person and a dispenserof a per-- the bore and enlargement 15, and thus will fume, thereby accomplishing the effect withaccomplish the same result as direct appliout necessitating the application of the percation of the perfume to the garment. i
loo 2 The container for the commodity, as before stated, is of a non-absorbent character, which retains the commodity in its liquid form therefrom by evaporation.
From. the foregoing description of the structure shown in Fig. 1, it is manifest that an article is produced which provides the dual function of an ornament and a dispenser in. which the ornament may be moved rela tively to the other elements of the device to thusexpose the container for the commodity and allow its being immersed into the commodity to charge it with the commodity, after which said ornamental portion may again be arranged to enclose or conceal the commodity container.
It is further evident that. the commodity container is of a non-absorbent character which will retain the commodity in liquid form and allow its being dispensed by evaporation. I
Having thus described my invention what I claim and desire to cover by Letters Patent 1. In a device of the kind described, the combination of an element having an enlargement at one end, and a flexible member secured to the opposite end, a metallic porous member wound upon said element and providing a container, a member slidably mounted upon said flexible element andproviding a housing for said porous member, said housing member being supported by said enlar ement and being movable relatively to said element while in associated relation with said element to thereby arrange said element and member to expose said porous member with said element and member in associated relation with each other.
2. In a combined ornament and perfume dispenser, the combination of a flexible element having a container connected therewith, a tubular housing for said container slidably c'onnected with said flexible element and container to expose and enclose said container, and means for limiting movement of said housing in one direction relatively to said container and flexible element.
3. In a combined ornament and perfume dispenser, the combination of a flexible element having a wire mesh providing a container associated with said flexible. element for support by said flexible element, a tubular housing for said container slidably connected with said flexible element and container to expose and enclose said container, and means for limiting movement of said housing in one direction relatively to said container and flexible element.
4- In a combined ornament and perfume dispenser, the combination of a container comprised of a member having a wire mesh wound thereon, a flexible element connected to one end of said member, a tubular element providing a housing for said container, said tubular element being slidably movable in opposite directions lengthwise of said flexible element and member into and out of functional relation with said container, and means for limiting movement of said housing in one direction relatively to said container.
5. In a combined ornament and perfume dispenser, the combination of a flexible elementha-ving a member associated therewith providing a container, an open ended member providing a housing for said container, said open ended member being slidably mounted upon said element, said element and member being movable endwise relatively to each other to arrange said member upon said element and relativeto an end of said element to expose and enclose said container.
In witness whereof, I hereunto subscribe my name this 14th day of January A. D.,
EDWARD L. RIVET.
