-My invention refers to the riveting of tubes or other hollow work pieces as described in my copending a lication for patent of the United States, drial No. 125,204, filed 5 July 27, 1926, according to which an anvilv is inserted in the tube and held in position therein by resilient means in such manner as to give way underthe pressure of the shaft of a rivet which is introduced through a hole in the wall of the tube or the like.
1 The rivet forces back the resiliently supported anvil, and if blows are now struck on the .swage head of the rivet, the inertia of the anvil will upset the rivet shaft to form the closing head. After the anvil has thus acted on the shaft of the rivet, it is jerked back by the resilient means supporting it and then returns into its initial position in which it is ready for reacting under the next blow. struck on the swage head- It is an object of my invention to improve a device of this kind.
