Description
Dec. 27, 1932. w. HALM 1,892,393
FLOWER HOLDER Filed July 28, 1951 INVENTOR [ii mffazlm BY 3 '1 ATTO EY 7? filo y cum Patented Dec. 27, 1932 UNITED STATES WILLIAM BALM, LONG ISLAND CITY, NEW YORK FLOWER Application filed July 28,
This invention relates to improvements in devices for holding flowers for display and other purposes, and it is the principal intention to provide aholder of simple and inexpensive construction for holding flowers and bunches of such flowers in superposed arrangement allowing a ready removal and suspension of the flowers or bunches thereof.
Another object of my invention resides in the provision of a flower stand or holder the holder devices of which are suitably bent from inexpensive wire having one of their ends held together by suitable sockets, while their opposite ends are simply bent to form 5 ring-shaped members supporting the flowers.
A further object of my invention is the provision of a flower holder in which a median post suitably secured to a base at its lower end has attached thereto one or more sockets to which the lower ends of the wire strands are removably secured, thus allowing a plurality of sockets to be attached to one post.
A still further object of my invention 1s the provision of a flower stand or holder allowing the bending of the wire strands to any desired distance from the post so as to bunch the same closely around the same for packing and shipping purposes.
These and other objects of my invention will become more fully known as the description thereof proceeds, and will then be specifically defined in the accompanying claims.
In the accompanying drawing forming a material part of this disclosure:
Fig. 1 is a front elevation of a flower holder constructed according to my invention.
Fig. 2 is a fragmentary sectional detail View thereof.
As illustrated, a base 10 of any suitable shape and material or color and suitably weighted has a vertical central bore for the reception of the lower end of a post 11, of suitable length, to which any desired number of sockets 12 are adjustably held by means of the set-screws 13. Each socket has secured thereto by soldering or otherwise the lower ends of wires 14, preferably metal wires made of brass or other metal, the upper ends of which are formed into rings or HOLDER 1931. Serial No. 553,525.
1101 15 open at their ends, as for instance In use, the wires 14 which during storing or shipping are closely engaged with the center post are bent at an angle thereto, as shown in Figure 1, and it will be clear that any number of flowers or bunches having their stems passed through the wire loops can be displayed by the holder.
It will be understood that I have shown and described the preferred form of my invention as one example only of the many possible ways to practically construct the same, and that I may make such changes in the general arrangement thereof and in the construction of its minor details as come within the scope of the appended claims without departure from the spirit of my invention.
Having thus described my invention, what i I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1 A flower holder comprising a weighted base having a central vertical bore, a post held at its lower end securely in the bore of said post, a plurality of sockets on said post in superposition, set screws for locking said sockets in any of their adjusted positions to said post, a plurality of wire strands secured with their lower ends in said sockets bunched about said post, and open rings or loops formed at the outer ends of said strands for the passage and support of the stems of flowers and bunches thereof, said strands adapted to be bent for engagement with said post for shipping purposes and to be bent at 35 an angle to said post for the display of flowers.
2. A flower holder comprising a stepped weighted base having a centrally located bore, a smooth stem engaging with its lower end in the bore, a plurality of sockets adapted to be adjustably held on said stem by means of set-screws passing through said sockets andengaging said stem, each of said sockets provided in its upper face with a plurality of openings grouped about said stem, wires entered with their lower straight ends into the openings in said sockets, and open loops formed at the upper ends of said wires to hold the flowers, the base being comparatively small and forming with said wires when grouped about the stem, a compact package for convenient shipment.
Signed at New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, this 27th day of July, A. D. 1931.
WILLIAM HALM.
