This invention relates to lacing tabs. The object of the invention is the production of pliable lacing tabs, which are specially adapted to detachably support a sani- '5 tary napkin. The second object of the invention is the production of lacing tabs which are devoid of metallic parts.

In the accompanying` drawing Fig. l represents a side View of a pair of the improved lacing tabs with a perspective view of a belt and sanitary napkin; Fig. 2 shows an enlarged front View of one of the tabs with a portion of its suspendingmember; Fig. 3 is a side View of Fig. 2; Fig. 4 indicates a section of Fig. l on the line 4, 4 and Fig. 5 is a view similar to Fig. 2 with a modification.

In this exemplication a belt is shown with the main portion of elastic or non-elastic 20 webbing. Suspending members 21 of elastic or non-elastic webbing extend from the belt 20. The pliable tabs designated in their entireties by the numeral 25, extend from the members 21 and have their upper ends fas- 25 tened thereto. In this instance the upper portion of each tab 25 is split and the lower end ofthe accompanying suspending member 2l is inserted in said split. The upper end of the pad and its suspending member are stitched to each other as indicated at 26. Each of the tabs 25 in this instance is bell shaped and has formed therein the upper vertical locking slot 27 and the lower horizontal locking slot 28. The slots 27 and 28 are indicated at right angles to each other, but they may be disposed with their longitudinal axes inclined at various angles.

An element commercially known as a napkin is designated in its entirety by the numeral 30. The said napkin in this instance comprises a pluralityV of layers of absorbent cotton 3l, enclosed in a wrapper 32 of cheese cloth. The wrapper is shown with the loose end portions 33 having the tip end portions 34. The portions 33 are practically Vertically positioned and slightly spaced from the outer faces of the tabs 25, then after leading through the slots 27 extend to the rear of said tabs and then forwardly through the horizontal slots 28. to the tabs no protruding portions of the,H napkin are positioned adjacent to the inner face of the garment worn by thel user and which cover the belt and its parts.

In the Vmodification shown in Fig. 5, the

pliable tab is indicated in its entirety by the o numeral 35, the suspending member is again indicated at 21. The tab 35 and the member 2l are connected by the stitching 26 as already described. An inclined slot 37 and a horizontal slot 38 are formed in the tab. Only one of the slots in either form of tab may be used to hold the napkin.

The method of connecting the napkin 30, to tabs as indicated at 35 is similar to the one already described. It will be `noted that the tabs 25 and 35 are made of pliable material, by means of which the end portions 33 of the wrapper of the napkin are held in fric-v tional engagement with the walls of the slots of the tabs. .f f

Various modifications may be made in the invention and the present exemplication is to be taken as illustrative and not limitative thereof.

A lacing tali) of pliable material having slots with their longitudinal axes inclined to each other, said tab adapted to frictionally and detachably support an end of a sanitary napkin by having its end extending through the slots of the tab, the pliability of the tab material being such aas to cause the walls of its slots to give when the end of the napkin is extended through said slots, thereby producing frictional engagement between the walls of the slotsand the end of the sanitary napkin. r
