neat and attractive in appearance, conven-' ient, durable, and satisfactory for use wherever found applicable.
A particular object of the invention is to provide improved construction for devices of the kind described, which construction will provide a removable hood operable to induce circulation of air through the device when the cover is in position.
Another particular object of the invention is to provide improved construction for devices of the kind described to be installed either in a built-in wall recess or adjacent to a vertical wall with novel means. operable to support a removable cover or hood forming a portion of the device from the adjacent side wall of the room.
Another object of the invention is the provision of a combination cabinet and heating device constructed to induce circulation of air through the cabinet.
Many other objects and-advantages of the construction herein shown and described will be obvious to those skilled in the art from the disclosure herein given.
To this end my invention consists in the novel construction, arrangement and combination of parts herein shown and described, and more particularly pointed out in the claims.
In the drawing wherein like reference characters indicate like or corresponding parts:
Fig. 1 is a front elevational view of one embodiment of the invention as it appears when fastened to the wall of a room;
Fig. 2 is a large scale sectional view along the line 22 of Fig. 1;
Fig. 3 is a horizontal section along the line 3-3 of Fig. 1;
Fig. 4 is a large sectional detail of a portion of the radiator unit.
Referring now more particularly to the drawing, the numeral 10 generally designates a heat exchange device assembled in position adjacent to a wall 11. The radiator device is housed in a cabinet 12 having a removable cover or hood 13. The cover 13 comprises a back plate 1 1, side plates 15 and a front plate 16, the plates preferably being integrally formed as shown. A plurality of slots 23 in the plate 14 provide means for suspending the cover 13 from hooks 24 protruding from the wall 11.
The cabinet 12 also includes a back plate 17 resting upon a floor 19 with its upper edge turned inwardly to form a projection 34. The projection 34 permits the back plate 14; to be in alignment with the plate 17 when the cover is in its operative position. Side plates 18 are fastened to or integrally formed with the upper end of the plate 17. The plates 18 provide side walls and a connection for header tanks 25 forming a part of the radiator unit.
The front plate 16 of the removable cover 13 has its upper and lower ends curved rearwardly to form top and bottom ends respectively; of the cabinet. A plurality of apertures 21 in the upper curved portion of the plate 16 provide a grille through which heated air flows from the cabinet into the room. The lower curved portion of the plate 16 stops short of the plate 17. A plurality of i apertures 22 in the lower curved portion of the plate 16 provide agrille through which air flows into the cabinet into Contact with the radiator unit. Since the lower edge of the plate 16 terminates at some distance from the plate 17, the space between the plates also provides an inlet opening through which air to be heated enters the cabinet. The cover 13 is installed by hanging the plate 1% from the hooks 24. This is accomplished by tilting the cover so that the vertical portions of the hooks 24 may be inserted through the slots 23 and guiding the lower edge of the plate 14 to a seat back of the projection 34'. 1
wardly and rea-rwardly adjacent a grille 22 formed in the lower portion of the front wall plate 16; in addition to the header tanks 25, a plurality of tubes 26 are connected at each end with the tanks. The tanks each comprise ,a U-shaped plate and a cover 36 extending downwardly and rearwardly with the plate 35 fastened to the side plates 18 in any suitable manner. A socketed flange on the edges of the plates 35 receives the anged edge of the cover 36. The connection between the cover 36 and the flanged edge of the plate 35 is made fluid-tight by brazing, welding, or the like.
Heating fluid is conveyed to one of the tanks 25 by a feed pipe 28. The heating fluid flows to the other tank 28 through the tubes 26 and then out through a discharge pipe 29. The upper and lower grilled ends of the removable cover 13 provide a construcmounted upon a rotatable rod 31 having a knob 32 pro'ecting from one end thereof.
Having t us described my invention, it is obvious that various immaterial modifications may be made in the same without departing from the spirit of my invention; hence I do not wish to be understood as limiting myself to the exact form, construction, arrangement and combination of parts herein shown and described, or uses mentioned.
What I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. In a device of the kind described, a housing in two sections, a heating unit mounted in the housing, one section of said housing comprising a vertically extending platepositioned adjacent the heating unit, the other section of'the housing comprising a removable hood cooperating with said late, and means for supporting said hood independently of said plate.
2. In a device of the kind described, a housing having two sections, a radiator unit mounted in the housing, one section of the housing comprising a vertically extending plate adjacent the radiator unit, the other section of the housing comprising a removable hood having a back wall cooperating with said plate, said hood having front and side walls extending downwardly to substantially enclose said radiator unit.
3. In a device of the kind described, a housing having two sections, a radiator unit mounted in the housing, one section of the" housing comprising a vertically extending plate adjacent the radiator unit, the other section of the housing comprising a removable hood having a back wall cooperating with said plate, said hood having front and side walls extending downwardly to substan tially enclose said radiator unit, the front wall of the hood having its upper end por tion curved rearwardly to form the upper end of the hood, said upper curved portion of the plate having a plurality of apertures therein forming an outlet grille, the lower portion of said front plate being curved rearwardly and having a plurality of apertures therein to form an inlet grille.

In a device of'the kind described, a housing having two sections, a radiator unitmounted-in the housing, one section of the housing comprising a vertically extending plate adjacent the radiator unit, the other section of the housin comprising a removable hood having a %ack wall cooperating with said plate, said hood having front and side walls exending downwardly to substantially enclose said radiator unit, the front wall of the hood having its upper end portion curved rearwardly to form the upper end of the hood, said upper curved portion of the plate having a plurality of apertures therein forming an outlet grille, the lower portion of said front plate being curved rearwardly and having a plurality of apertures therein to form an inlet grille ad'- jacent to and underlying said radiator unit.
5. In-a device of the kind described, a heating unit, a removable hood substantially enclosing said heating unit, said hood including a vertical back wall and a curved front wall, the front wall of said hood having upper and lower grilles formed therein, the vertical back wall of said hood having a plurality of slots suitable for engagement with wall hooks whereby said hood is supported independently of the heating unit.
6. In a device of the kind described, a radiator unit, a hood comprised of separable sections substantially enclosing the radiator unit, said hood comprising substantially vertical rear and side walls and a front wall which connects with the rear wall, the upper end of said front wall having apertures forming an outlet grille, the lower end of said front wall having a plurality of apertures providing an inlet grille adjacent and beneath the radiator unit, the rear wall of said hood having slots therein for suspension of the hood from hooks mounted in the side wall of a room. 7. In a device of the kind described, the combination of a radiator unit, a hood comprised of separable sections substantially enclosing said radiator unit, one of said sections being open at the. front, said radiator unit being located in said last mentioned section,
the other section having an element providing a closure for the open front of said first mentioned section .andhaving means for sus pending said last mentioned section from a side wall of a room, and means provided at the opposite ends of the hood whereby air may enter and be discharged from said hood.
8. In a device of the kind described, the combination-of a radiator unit, a hood comprised of separable sections substantially enclosing said radiator unit, one of said sections being open at the front, said radiator unit being located in said last mentioned section, said radiator being inclined from the rear to the front of the open section, the other section having an element providing a closure for the open front of said first mentioned section and having means for suspending said last mentioned section from a side wall of a room, and means provided at the opposite ends of the hood whereby air may enter and be discharged from said hood.
9. In a device of the kind described, a heating unit, a hood comprised of sections substantially enclosing said heating unit and one of said sections providing means for supporting the other section relatively to said heating unit, said heating unit bein arranged in one of said sections and one 0 said sections having an element providing a closure for the section in which said heating unit is located. In a device of the kind described, a heating unit and a casing for said unit, said casing being comprised of separable hollow sections adapted to be associated with each' other to complete said casing, said unit being located in one of said sections, said sections being respectively provided with an opening providing means whereby air may circulate through said casing in contact with said unit, the opening in said section in which said unit is located being arranged below said unit.
11. In a device of the kind described, a vertically extending housing having an air inlet and an air outlet opening located adj acent the opposite ends of said housing, and a radiator unit positioned in the lower portion of the housing, said radiator unit comprising oppositely positioned header tanks connected by horizontally extending fiat tubes, said radiator unit being inclined and extended from the rear wall of said housing to the front wall thereof at said inlet opening.
12. In a device of the kind described, a vertically extending housing having cooperating posite the lower edge of said opening to the upper edge of said opening.
