In these views, the numeral 1 indicates a looking into i the spray cylinder passing through a wall A of a furnace or the like with its inner end provided 35 with the inwardly extending fingers 3. This cylinder 1 forms a mixing chamber as will be hereinafter described; A cylinder extends partly into the cylinder 1 and has its inner end closed by a cap 5 which is formed with the perforations 6. An elbow 7 is connected with the outer end of the cylinder 4 and is provided -with a substantially spherical part 8 atthe junction of its limbs and n this elbow is. connected with an air supply pipe 9 by a coupling 5 10. A pipe 11 extendsthrough the top part of the spherical portion 8 of the elbow and has its lower end connected with the T 12 which in turn is connected with'a pipe 13, the
' inner end of which extends through a cenj trally arranged hole inthe cap 5. A-spray 1.3 and isformedwiththe shank packing gland in the therefrom to besprayed in the chamber 1.
The head 14 is formed with an internal valve seat 16 for a needle valve 17 which has its orstem formed with a threaded part 18 which passes through a. threaded hole in a spideril9 located in the tube 13and said stem passes through the T 12, through a T and said stem passes through a hole in the spherical part 8 and has a handle 21 at its outer end so that by rotating the stem by means of this handle the point of the valve can he moved toward or away from the valve seat.
A short pipe 22 is connected by the coupling 23 with the upper end of the pipe 11 and said pipe 22 is threaded in one end of a T-24 to which an oil pipe 25 is connected and a steam pipe 26 is also connected to the said T.
From the foregoing it will be seen that the steam and oil entering the'pipes22 and 11 will be mixedtogether and this mixture will pass through the pipe 13 into the spray head and be sprayed into the air in the chamber or cylinder 1, the air entering the chamber from the air supply through the elbow 7 and the cylinder 4 and through the perforations 6 in the cap 5 of the cylinder. The steam and oil leaving the head 14 will thoroughly mix with the air and thus cause a highly combustible mixture to be formed which will pass into the furnace or the like from the inner end of the cylinder 1, the fingers 3 of which act as bafiles to increasethe mixing action.
The flow of steam and oil can be instantly cut off by closing the needle valve and this of the invention will be-readily appai'ent.
