The combination with a vertical guide rail, of a body movable adjacent said rail, a member carried by the body and formed with a channel portion embracing said rail, one side of the channel having a vertical face contiguous to the rail, the other side of the channel having a face spaced from the rail and upwardly convergent, a gib on said convergent face, a wedge member movable into wedging engagement between the gib and the rail, the bottom of said channel having a portion adjacent said vertical face which is deeper than the rest of the bottom to receive the edge of said rail and protect it from the crushing effect of the wedge member, and means for holding said gib, said holding means being yieldable with the gib in the direction of divergence of said faces to facilitate the release of the wedge member. s
