This invention pertainsto improvements in signs and especially advertising signs which are disposed along much traveled country roads, highways andthe like.

The prime objectofthe' invention is to provide a simple, strong, durable andcomparatively inexpensive advertising sign' adapted to be fixedly secured to. wire fences of the type such as is set forth in the patent granted to me underdate ofSeptember 3, 1929, No. 1,726,878, said sign being so secured and anchored that it cannot be readily misplaced by the wind or live stock.

A further object of the invention is to provide a sign that can be conveniently disposed on'private property adjacent to the thoroughfare with the sign at right angles to the roadway within easy vision of drivers of vehicles and travelers, with no part of the sign overhanging the public property, said sign possessing characteristics that in no way detract from the scenic beauty of the thoroughfare. j

Another object of the invention is to so construct the sign that it may be readily secured to a portion of the wire fence Without erecting any special means other than the fence proper for supporting said sign.

Figs. 4 and 5 of the drawings illustrate the sign plate 15, rigidly secured to a post 16 and guard arm 17 at an angle with relation to the post, while Figs. 6 and 7 disclose a further modified form of fence post 18 and guard arm 19 with the sign plate 20 secured thereto in the manner hereinbefore referred It will be readily perceived that this particular construction and type of sign may readily and easily be fixedly and permanently secured to the ordinary wire fence now employed along much traveled thoroughfares and hi hways without the necessity of erectin a ditional securing posts, or other means or securing the sign plate so that it cannot be readily displaced, and further that the sign is composed of such material as to considerably increase its longevity and prevent earl deterioration thereof, also that it is pre erably disposed at right angles with relation to the fence, and that it is always located on private property.

It will be readily understood that signs of various types may be secured to the wire fence at a point or points intermediate the fence posts on private property either parallel or at an angle of 90 to the highway, by suitably securing the sign to the barbed fence wire and the guard wire secured to the guards on the fence posts.

Having thus described my invention what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent 1. An advertising sign for wire fences disposed along public highways, comprising a metallic post for the reception of a series of wires, a guard arm fixedly secured to the upper end portion of the post, said guard arm having an opening formed therethrough at its inner end portion for the reception of detachable guard wire and a series of slotted openings therethrough formed in horizontal alinement intermediate its ends, a sign plate with a series of openings formed in horizontal alinement through its upper end portion disposed in vertical alinement with the slotted openings in the guard arm, a series of metallic links passing through all of said openings in the sign plate and guard arm for securing said plate to the guard arm, an opening formed through the lower end portion of the plate, and a wire passing through the lastnamed opening and attached to the post for securing the lower end of the plate to said post.

An advertising sign for wire fences disposed along public highways, comprising a post for the reception of a series of fence wires, an inwardly extended guard arm fixedly secured to the post, said guard arm having an openin therethrough at its inner end portion for t e detachable reception of a guard wire and a series of horizontally disposed slotted openings formed therethrough intermediate its ends, a sign plate formed of vitrified iron having a series of o enings formed therethrough in horizonta alinement at its upper end portion disposed in vertical alinement with said slotted openings, supporting rings passing through the openings in the guard arm and sign plate for securing said late to the guard arm, an opening formed t rough the lower end portion of the sign plate, and a wire member passing through the last-named opening and secured to the post for fixedly securing the lower end of the si 1 plate to said post.
