My invention relates to scaffold brackets, and in general the object of the invention is to provide a simple and durable bracket which may be readily attached to the walls or studding of a building and used as a part of a scaffold during the construction or repair of the building. To promote that purpose the bracket includes means which permits a hook connection to be made with a stud or upright scantling of the building, with the bracket located at either one side or the y studs as in use, and Fig. 2 is a side view of a bracket as hooked and attached. Fig. 3 is a side view, showing the foldable connecing part of the bracket turned vertically in fiat bracing connection with the building wall. `The means .for connecting and suspending the bracket consists of a short section 14 of angle ironl pivotally secured at its middle to the inner end of bar 2'by a bolt or rivet 15. 55 One flange `1.6 of section'14 isadapted to rest flat against the sheathing 10 when the section is turned at right angles to horizontal bar 2, and a series of key openings 17 therein permits the bracket to be suspended at dif- 6^ ferent elevations upon one or more nails 18 driven into the Vsheathing or other part of the wall see Fig. 3. However, in erecting a wooden building the studding is uncovered to begin with and the bracket must then be connected directly to the studs or upriglits `11. These studs are spaced aparty varying distances, and frequently single onesare ianged closely by otherstuds or pieces. Having this condition in'mind a suitable connection vele- 'Z0 ment 19 is mounted in a transversely shiftable or reversible position upon one endl of foldable section 14 topermit the sections to be. attached at either side to a stud.
As shown, element 19 is in the form of a 'K5 double hook, that is, it has a hook at each end, and it is supported to slide within fixed limits in one flange of section 14 and in a supsee Fig.` 5. In the present device, I use a reversible hook whichv slides within a foldablel extension for the main bar of the bracket, but in considering the invention more broadly I desire to include any equivalent connecting means which willv permit the bracket to be affixed to either the front of a wall or to the studding and which will also W) permit the bracket to be placed on either the right or left side of the studding in making the connection.
What I claim, is:

A scaffold bracket comprising a main bar, .a brace member for isaid bar., an eX- tension pivotally .connected :to said main bar, said extension being provided with nail openings and a hook member supported by one end of said extension lfor alternative connection of said extension in vertical 'or horizontal position to different portions ofa .building Wall.

A scaffold bracket .comprising 4a main bar and a brace member, includinga pivoted supporting section at one vend of said .bar having va member shiftably attached to one end thereof, said shiftable member being of U- sh-aped form and Aattached AWith its central 20 portion to said supporting section.
'3. A scaffold bracket including a `main bar :having a perforated section pivoted to one end thereof, and a member of U-shaped form shiftably connected With its central portion Yto said section.
4. A scaffold bracket includinga main bar, an extension pivotally connected to one rend of said Ibar and :attachment means for said extension, said `means including a lmember slida'bly mounted Within said extension and Ain va plane at right angles 'to the ongitudinal axis ofthe extension.
5. A scaffold 4bracket including a main bar, a brace member pivotally connected With one 55 end of said bar, and a U-shaped member slidably connected at its central portion to :the opposite endof said bar.

A scaffold bracket comprising a horizontal barof angle iron, a perforated eXten- 40 `sionof angle iron pivotal'ly connected to Vsaid fbar, a member having projections at `right angles to its ends carried by said extension and -shiftable to yopposite sides thereof, and foldable braces for said bar.
- 7. A scaffold 'bracket comprising 'a 'horizontal bar, a brace member pivotally connected at one end -to said bar and having a stabilizing cross member at its opposite end, means for limiti-ng the spread of said brace 5U member, a perforated section at one end of said bar adapted to be folded thereon and a --U-shaped member carried by said section and shiftable to opposite sides thereof.
8. A scaffold bracket including a horizontal bar, lan inclined brace member pivoted to said bar having a. cross piece at one end, an extension pivotally connected to said vbar adapted to be folded thereon, and a slidably shiftable member at one end of said extension, said extension having means vvherein the second member may be slidand shifted.
