My invention relates to dental bridgework, and more particularly to an improved arch spring vertically split attachment for removable dental bridgework; and the in- G vcntion has for its object to fasten a removable dental bridge securely in the mouth by frictional engagement with an anchoring abutment or abutments.

My invention is an improvement over my 1 Patent No. 1,449,079, of March 20, 1923.

Many modifications may be made to my invention, and I do not limit myself to the sgeciiic construction of the same. he particular arch spring vertically split attachment for removable bridgework is adapted to hold the bridge firmly in place by adjustable frictional engagement with an abutment orabutments and without danger of break ing.

Figure 6 is a sectional View on line 6-6, of Figure 2, looking in the direction of the arrows, showing the split extending nto the solid portion at top, but leaving said solid portion entire at bottom, or bridge-connecting part.

The numeral 1 indicates the arch support vertically split member, having a solid porti'on 2, and a split 3 extending its entire length and passing back into the solid portion of the support to the bridge. 4 is the portion that is' furnished for the support of the bridge; and 5 indicates the inlay in the tooth to which the attachment is connected and supported, as shown in Figure 3 of the drawings.

The split 3 extends, as illustrated, into the solid portion of the bridge support, but inclines from top of same to bottom so as to leave the lower part of support solid, thus preserving its strength without impairing its frictional quality.

6 indicates the arch of the spring full 05 width, so as to produce a more permanent and durable attachment, one that will have no tendency to break at said arch, as will be apparent. The arch of the device is therefore solid at the arch portion, and the split extends beyond the same into the solid portion, so that the arch portion supports the vertical body and the spring action is retained while the strength of the arch is increased, the bend or straight portion supporting the bridge.

Having now fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is 2- 1. A removable dental bridgework, comprising an anchoring portion formed with a split, a solid supporting portion for said anchoring portion, the split extending at its upper end into the solid portion to a point spaced inwardly of the head and at the junction of the head and the support at its lower end, whereby the arch support is left intact and thereby strengthened.

2. A dental bridge attachment, comprising an anchoring portion and a supporting portion at the rear and longitudinally of said anchoring portion, said anchoring portion be ing split longitudinally, the split at its upper end extending into the upper portion of said supporting portion to a point spaced inwardly of the head and at the junction of the head and the support at its lower end, the lower portion of the latter remaining solid.

3. A dental bridge attachment, comprising an anchoring portion and a supporting part at the rear of and extending longitudinally 5 of the former, said attachment having a split extending longitudinally of the anchoring portion and extending into the supporting portion at its upper end to a point spaced inwardly of the head and at the junction of the W head and the support at its lower end, whereby the lower portion of the supporting part remains solid.

4. A removable dental hridgework attachment, comprising an anchoring and a supporting portion, a split in the said ortions, the split having its rear edge extending from within the upper part of the supporting portion to a point spaced inwardly of the head and at the junction of the head and the suport at its lower end, thereby leaving the ower portion of the supporting portion solid.
