The invention relates'to improvements in indicator boards for offices and the like, the primary object of the invention being the provision of an improved construction of the character indicated, which is capable of vision of a construction of the character indicated, having specialprovisions therein facilitating the removal and replacement of the individual indicators thereof.

Other objects will appear hereinafter.

The invention consists in the combinations and arrangements. of parts hereinafterdescribed and claimed. U

The invention will be best understood by reference to the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification, and in which 7 Fig. 1 is a face view of an indicator board embodying the invention, with portions broken away for the sake of clearness;

The embodiment of the invention illustrated in the drawings comprises a body board 10, preferably of wood, and having channel members 11 and 12, preferably of metal, secured over the opposite edges thereof. The channel members 11 and 12 are secured in place by means of screws 13 taking through their longer legs 14, positioned against the back of the board 10, as best shown in Fig. 2. The shorter legs 15 of the channel members 11 and 12 are positioned to project over the front face of the board 10, thereby forming retaining recesses at the opposite edgesof said board, as shown. As will be noted, the channel member 12 is positioned at a slight distance from the corresponding edge of the board 10, thereby forming a channel for the reception of a locking bar 16.

The bottom of the board 10 is covered by a channel member 17 arranged to close the lower end of the channel for the locking bar 16, and the top of the board 10 is covered by a panel member 18 which'is cut short at one side so as to expose the end of thelocking :bar 16. .Thelockingbar 16 is provided'at its upper end with an opening 19 to receive a pin, nail or the like, for withdrawal'of the bar 16, the corresponding channel member 12 being provided with a notch 20 to give access to said opening 19. As shown, the indicators 23 are provided with slidable "concealing tabs 24: and 25 for thepurpose of concealing or exposing items of information on the indicators. The specific form and arrangement of the indicators themselves constitutes no part of the present invention and thereforextheseparts require no further description here, beyond the states a ment that they are of sufficient length to. traverse the face of the board andproject various lengths and sizes having individual into the retaining rec'esses at: the'opposite indicators thereon, which may be readily re-' moved and replaced when desired. Obviwhat I claim as new and desire to secure by- Letters Patent is:

1. A construction of the class described comprisin a body having retaining recesses at opposite sides thereof; a plurality of individual indicators of a length to traverse said body with their ends fitting into said recesses; and means for locking said individual indicators in said recesses consisting of a longitudinal slide traversing the bottom of the recess at one side.

2. A construction of the class described comprising a body having retaining recesses at opposite sides thereof; a plurality of inclividual indicators of a length to traverse said body with their ends fitting into said recesses, the recess at one side being of sufiicient depth to permit lateral shifting of said individual. indicators sufficient to release the opposite ends from the opposite recess; and means for locking said individual indicators from such lateral shifting insaid recess.

3. A construction of the class described comprising a body havingretaining recesses at opposite sides thereof; a plurality'of individual indicators of a length to traverse said body with their ends fitting into said recesses,

the recess at one side being of suflicient depth 7 to permit lateral shifting of said individual indicators sufficient to release the opposite ends from the opposite recess; and a longitudinally sliding lock bar sliding into and out of the extra depth of said recess at said one side to lock said individual indicators in said recess.

4. A construction of the class described comprising a body having retaining recesses opposite sides thereof; a plurality of individual indicators of a length to traverse said body with their ends fitting into said recesses, the recess at one side being of sufficient depth to permit lateral shifting of said individual indicators suiiicient to. release the. opposite ends from the opposite recess; and a longitudinally sliding lock bar sliding into and out of the extra depth of said recess at said one side to lock said individual indicators in said recess, the end of said lock bar being beveled.

5. A constructionof the class described comprising aback board; retaining members at opposite edges of said back board in the form of channel members having legs projecting over the outer face of said board to form retaining recesses at opposite sides thereof; a plurality of individual indicators of a length to traverse said body with their ends fitting into said recesses; and a longitudinally sliding locking bar for locking said individual indicators from removal from said recesses.

6. A construction of the class described comprising a back board; retaining members at opposite edges of said back board in the form of channel members having legs projecting over the outer face of said board to form retaining recesses at opposite sides thereof, one of said channel members being spaced from the corresponding edge of said board to form a channel for the reception of a longitudinally slidable locking bar; a plurality of individual indicators of a length to traverse said body with their ends fitting into said recesses; and a longitudinally sliding locking bar having a beveled nose insertable in and removable from said channel.

7. As a lock for devices of the class described, the combination with a supporting frame having a retaining recess therein, of a slide traversing the bottom of the recess and arranged to reduce and limit the depth thereof.
