Description

J. QUARTZ CARBON BINDER Dec. 3, 1929.
Filed March 14. 1928 ners 22a of the ribbon copy sheet are inserted through said slits and lie under the cover sheet at the corners thereof and the sheet thus is held in alignment with the carboncopy sheets during the" use of the binder. The paper ysheets can be placed in and on the binder by an oiice boy or other low-salaried employee and will be retained in posi?Y tion prior to` use by the typist, thus saving the time of the typist.
In the modification shown in Figs. 3 and 4, the cover sheet 14a of the binder is provided with a slit 24 which lies parallel with, and adjacent to, the stitched margin of the binder and is of a width at least equal to the width ofthe ribbon-copy sheet and less than the width ofthe cover sheet and lies entirely within the cover sheet.` One entire margin of the ribbon copy sheet 22b is-adapted to be inserted through the s/lit and lies under the cover sheet and bears against the stitchedmargin of the binder, thus to be held in alignment with the carbon copy sheets.
With the arrangementv shown, the`binder presents no obstacle to the yfree passage of the entire binder about the p laten of a type-A writer.
sheet, interposed carbon sheets, a line of stitching passed through all of said sheets at one margin thereof, said cover sheet havin a slit therein which is adjacent to, and paralle with, the line of stitchin and is located entirely within the boundary of the cover sheet and has a width at least equal to the width of a ribbon-copy sheet and is arranged to permit a margin of the ribbon copy sheet to pass therethrough and occupy a position beneath the cover sheet and against the stitched end of the binder.
In testimony whereof, I have signed my name to this specification.
JAMES QUARTZ.
I have herein shown the invention applied claimed in my copending application Serial No. 187,652, filed April 29, 1927, and the present invention is intended as an improvement on the binderofsaid application.
I claim: 1. A carbon binder having backing and cover sheets and interposed carbon sheets, all
united at one margin, said carbon sheets adapted to receive carbon-copy sheets between them and said cover sheet adapted to receive a ribbon-copy sheet upon itand having" an opening therethrou h into which a. portionof the ribbon copy s eet can enter to lie beneath the cover sheet.
2. A carbonbinder having backing and cover sheets and interposed carbon sheets, all united at one margin, said cover sheet adapted to receive upon it a ribbon-copy sheetv'and having a slit therein through which a portion of the ribbon-copy sheet can pass to 11e beneath the cover sheet whereby to be retained against displacement on the cover sheet.
3. A carbon binder comprisin .backingand cover sheets, and interposed car on sheets, a
sheets at one margin thereof, said cover sheet line of stitching passed through all of said having a slit therein adjacent to said line of stitching .through which a marginal portion of -a ribbon-.copy sheet which is on the cover sheet' can pass whereby to hold said sheet against dis acement on the cover sheet.'
