- My invention relates to a box or case designed particularly for the reception of a Wrist watch and attached strap, of leather or similar material, and the object is to provide a container suitable for the display of the watch when offered for sale or receiving the watch when not in use which shall have convenient means for engaging and confining in position the strap members, whereby the watch is neatly held in position within the box without l1ability of the back of the watch becoming marred, and the open box may be freely handled without danger of the watch dropping out.

My invention relates to a box or case designed particularly for the reception of a Wrist watch and attached strap, of leather or similar material, and the object is to provide a container suitable for the display of the watch when offered for sale or receiving the watch when not in use which shall have convenient means for engaging and confining in position the strap members, whereby the watch is neatly held in position within the box without l1ability of the back of the watch becoming marred, and the open box may be freely handled without danger of the watch dropping out. My invention resides in the novel construction and'arrangement of the lining members of the box, as hereinafter fully described and explained, the essentialelements thereof being more particularly pointed out in the appended claims.

The box body 1,and lid 2, hinged to the body. may be conveniently formed of sheet metal, covered with an ornamental fabric,
as usual in such articles, the inside of the cover being in the present instance lined and the hinge covered with fabric to form a neat finish. The body of the box may be provided, as shown, with a fabric covered lining strip 3 extending around the inside of its sides and ends, and the bottom covered with a rectangular lining strip l, all these lining and finishing members being secured to the sheet metal box parts by a suitable adhesive.

ticularly relates include a somewhat thick cardboard false bottom member 5 which is cut out longitudinally of the box alon its central region, though not necessarily a ong its mathematical center line, to provide a strap-receiving slot or pocket marked 6 which at one end is preferably slightly enlarged as indicated by the reference numeral 7 and a covering 8 of velvet, or similar material cemented thereto. In the present instance, the velvet covering is carried around the edges of the false bottom and a finishing sheet of paper 9 is cemented to the under side thereof. I
The rear edge of the false bottom member is slightly out back adjacent the hinge line as indicated at 10, to accommodate the roll of the hinge members, and a tab of ribbon 11 may be secured to the false bottom, as shown, to enable it to be readily removed from the box, if desired.
Opposite the enlarged portion 7 of the pocket Within the false bottom, and a short distance from what-,1 will term the outer end of the pocket, the cover 8 is slitted in such manner as to provide an orifice 12 through which the perforated section of the strap 13 of the wrist watch 14 may be inserted so that it will lie underneath the fabric within the pocket, while the body of the watch lies on top of the fabric opposite the enlarged portion of the pocket, and the portion of the strap 15 to which the buckle is secured extends along the upper face of the velvet covering. An'overhanging clip 16, which may be covered with fabric similar to the covering 8, serves to hold buckle-carrying section 15 of the strap against the false bottom structure. The velvet above the poc'ket 7 (occupied in part by the strap 13) is to some extent free to yield, and form a seat for the watch andfor the strap 15 below the plane of the upper face of the false bottom member 5, over which the velvet, is smoothly stretched.
The attachment of the buckle-carrying section of the strap by the clip 10 at one side of the watch,and of the perforated section at the opposite side by passing it through the orifice 12 of the velvet covering adjacent such opposite side of the watch, provides means whereby the watch is securely held on the yielding expanse of the velvet covering opposite the cut out opening of the false bottom member so that it cannot shake around in the box While being handled or during shipment, and as the false bottom structure is a finished unit, it may be removed for display purposes, or in case it is desired to use the box for other purposes.
I claim:
1. A wrist Watch container including a box body, and a false bottom structure therein including a false bottom member cut out along its central region and anorificed fabric cover member providing a strap-receiving pocket, the cut-out opening in said bottom member being enlarged adjacent its outer end and the orifice in said fabric member being formed adjacent such outer end, whereby the body of a wrist watch arranged in said box will rest upon the upper face of the fabric cover member opposite said enlarged end of the opening in the body member and the perforated section of the strip will be received within said pocket underneath said fabric member.
2. A wrist watch container including a box body, a' false bottom structure therein including a false bottom member cut out along its central region and an orificed fabric cover member providing a strap-receiving pocket, the cut-out opening in said bottom member being enlarged adjacent its outer end and the orifice in said fabric member being formed adjacent such outer end, whereby the body of a wrist watch arranged in said her: willrest upon the upper face of the fabric cover member opposite said enlarged end of the opening in the body member and the perforated sec tion of the strip will be received within said pocket underneath said fabric member, and means for securing the buckle-carrying end of said strap to the face of said false bottom structure.
3. A container for wrist watches and like articles including a boxbody and a false bottom structure therein including a false bot tom member cut out along its central region and an orificed fabric cover member providinga strap receiving pocket, an orificed openin provided by said fabric member being situated adjacent the outer end'of the cut out opening of the false bottom member, whereby the wrist watch arranged in said box will rest upon the upper face of the fabric member opposite the cut out opening in the bottom member and will be cushioned thereby and the perforated section of the strap will be received within said pocket underneath said fabric'member to constrain the watch against movement when handled or during shipment.
at. A container for wrist watches and like articles comprising a body member and a false bottom structure therein including a false bottom member-cut out along its central wrist watch and constrain the watch from relative movement with respect to the false bottommember when handled or in transit.
