FILLING PIPE CAP Filed June 25, 1926 Patented (Jet. 29, 1929 I v UNITED STATES FATENT @FFECE DANIEL S, PFAI-IL, F CLEVELAND, OHIO FILLING-Finn CAP Application filed June 25, 1826. Serial No. 118,404.
This invention relates to filling attachments Referring now to the drawing the numeral for tanks and has particular reference to a 1 designates the usual underground tank procompound closure which is adapted to be sevided with a filling neck 2 threaded at its upcured to the filling neck or the usual undGrper end as shown at 3. Pivotally secured to the plate 7 is a retailer a certain percentage on the gasoline cap 9 which is adapted to close the opening 8 or other commodity dispensed through such in the cover plate 7. The annular member equipment, the dealer agreeing to purchase is also provided with an aperture 10 which 7 gasoline only from the manufacturer. \Vith is adapted to align with a similar aperture 11 tanks heretofore known it has been possible in the plate 7 when the parts are in the positor a dishonest dealer to purchase gasoline, tion shown in Fig. 1. When the tank 1 has been filled with a certain grade and quality of gasoline or other commodity and the plate 7 locked in place, the tank 1 cannot again be tampered with and the customer is insured of receiving a certain grade and quality of gasoline.
It will now be clear that I have provided a device which will accomplish the objects of the invention as hereinbet'ore stated.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim is:
1. A closure attachment of the class described comprising an annular member having an opening therein adapted to receive the upper end of the filling neck of a tank, a shoulder formed adjacent said opening whereby a part of said filling neck may be bent over to secure said annular member to said neck, a plate pivotally secured to said annular member, said plate having an opening therein smaller than the opening in said annularmember, a cap pivotally secured to said plate and adapted to close the opening therein, means for locking said plate in closing position and means for locking said cap in position to close the opening in said plate.
2. A closure attachment for tanks comprising an annular member adapted to be secured about the filling neck of a tank, a plate pivotally secured to said annular member and having an opening therein of less diameter than the opening in the said annular member, a cap pivotally secured to said plate and adapted to close the opening therein, means for locking said plate to said annular member and means for holding said cap in position to close the opening in said plate.
3. A closure attachment of the class described comprising a member having an opening therein adapted to receive the upper end of the filling neck of a tank, a shoulder formed adjacent said opening whereby a part of said filling means may be bent over to secure said member against removal from said neck, a plate secured to said member, said plate having an opening therein considerably smaller than the opening in said annular member, a cap carried by said plate and adaptedto close the opening therein, means for locking said plate in closing position and means for securing said cap in position to close the opening in said plate.
In testimony whereof, I hereunto afiix my signature.
