This invention relates to improvements in window display and interior decorating racks of the adjustable type, and the invention relates primarily to devices of this type formed of sheet or stamped metal.
The primary object of the invention is to provide an adjustable window display and interior decorating rack which may be formed of clamps and platforms arranged o upon a pedestal or support7 such brackets and platforms being formed of stampings of sheet metal and secured together without necessitating the usual screws and rivets or other fastening means.
A still further object of this invention is to provide an adjustable displaj7 rack of the class described which is comparatively cheap and easy to manufacture and which comprises comparatively few parts to get out of order or disfigured.
Other objects and advantages of the invention will become apparent during the course of the following description in which like reference characters are employed to designate like parts throughout the same, and in which,
Figure 1 is a vertical plan view of the invention showing the supports and platforms in their arranged position;
Figure 2 is av vertical fragmentary view showing the arrangement and position of the supports and pedestals in relation to the vertical supporting column;
Figure 3 is a cross-sectional view taken on line 3-3 of Figure 27 showing the details of the stamped metal brackets and supporting pedestals;
Figure 4; is a cross-sectional view taken on line 4 4 of Figure 2, showing the manner in which the brackets are formed for vertical and horizontal adjustment; and
Figure 5 is a detailed fragmentary sectional view showing the manner of supporting the pedestals relative to the vertical colg umn or support; and
Figure 6 is a cross-sectional view taken through the diameter of one of the supporting pedestals showing Vthe same arranged upon a supporting arm and the manner of securing the same thereto.
For the purpose ofillustrating the invention, attention is first directed to the drawing wherein the reference character 5 willbe generally referred-to as a vertical column or support which is providedwitli a decorative base' andan upper supporting pedestal 7'7 The supporting pedestal 'lis provided with an enlarged portion' 8 which is fitted upon the uppermost end ofthe verticalvcolumn or supporting member 5'. 4
The invention includes vertically and horizontally adjustable brackets 9' and 10 which are adapted'to support diiferentv types of'pedestals. The type of pedestal' shown at 9 includesa stampingill havinga curved-portion 12'which is adaptedto form one leg'of' a clamping member which is completed by a clamping plate 14 having a curvedI portion 15` which issecured tothe support 5.v screw 16 and wing nut 17 are employedfor clamping the members 11 andv l't'tothe suport 5. The sheet stamping. 25 is provided withv aI curved portion 30 Vforforming a clamping member adapte/dto be securedto the verticalsupp'orting; member' 5.` A suitable clamping plate may be provided for a similar sheet stamping as shown in Figure 3 as at 31, may be provided for completing the clamping device and the same is rovided with a clamping jaw 32 which is held about the vertical support 5 by a bolt 33 and a wing nut 84. The sheet metal stamping 31 may be formed similar tothe sheet metal stamping 25 and provided with turned over lugs 26 which are adapted to pass around a sheet metal stamping 27 which is also provided With bent over lugs 28 for passing around the sheet metal stamping or clamping member 3l. The outer end portions of the sheet metal stampings 3l and 27 are projected upwardly as at 36 and 36 and the projections are adapted to be received in a horizontal bar 57 Which provides a supporting device for the pedestals 38 Which are formed of sheet metal stampings in the desired form. lIhe pedestals 38 are provided for displaying shoes and other articles similar thereto in Windows and they are formed with oppositely punched out portions 39 forming suitable bearings for the ends of the shaits or horizontal bar 37. Projections 40 may be formed on the pedestals 38 for preventing the sliding movement of the shoe or displayed article after being placed thereon. The projections 40 are merely stamped or pressed out of the pedestal supports 38 andit will he quite obivous that simplicity and low cost of manufacture is atcomplished by stamping the pedestal supports and pedestals in such a manner.
In Figure 6 is shown a pedestal similar to the pedestal shown and designated as at 28 j and designated by the reference character 23 which is formed of sheet metal having a radial 30 flange and a punched out central portion 24 .which is seated upon the vertical support 22. It is to be understood, that various changes in the size, shape and arrangement of the invention may be resorted to Without departing from the spirit of the invention or the scfpe of the subjoined claim.
claim In a Window display rack of the character described, a base member, a vertical support having its lower end secured in the base member, a display pedestal secured to the upper end of the vertical support, horizontally extending pedestal brackets secured to the vertical support and including sheet metal stampings having clamp portions formed at one end thereof, turned down lugs formed on the opposite ends thereof adapted to pass around a similar sheet metal stamping, also having turned over lugs at the end portion thereof for passing around the first sheet stamping, and means secured to the outer ends of the last mentioned sheet metal stampings for supporting article holding pedestals. v In testimony whereof I aiix my signature.
