Une of the objects of my invention is the provision of a new and improved embossing or bea-ding device, which will be simple, inexpensive, durable, reliable, eliicient and sat- 15 isfactory for use wherever found applicable.
Many other objects and advantages of the construction herein shown and described will be obvious to those skilled in the art from 'the disclosure herein given.
To this end my invention consists in the novel construction, arrangement and combination of parts herein shown and described, and more particularly pointed out in the claims.

My improved apparatus for forming the bead upon the formed blank A comprises a base plate 1 upon which is mounted a holder 2 having a frustro-conical aperture 3 conforming to the shape of the formed blank A Secured to the base plate 1 and concentrically disposed in the aperture 3 is a plate 4 adapted to support the top blank B when the same is placed in the aperture 3 in the manner illustrated in Fig. 2. As
shown, the formed article will project above the holder 2 so that its upper circular edge will be disposed in alignment with arcuate grooves 5 formed in a pair of arcuate levers which are pivotally secured to the base plate 1 by a bolt 7, the free end of the levers i3 being provided with handles 3 whereby the levers may be swung into and out of the positions wherein they are shown in Fig. 1.
Projecting upwardly from the base 1 and centrally disposed with respect to the aperture 3 is a pin 9 having a portion 10 of reduced diameter. Rotatably journaled upon the portion 10 is a bracket member 11 which carries a pin l2 pivotally securing a lever 13 to the bracket member, the longitudinal axis of the pin 12 being disposed at right angles to the longitudinal axis of the pin 9. Rotatably ournaled upon the lever 13 is a wheel 14 which may be rolled around the inner surface of the formed blank A to ex`1 pand the marginal portion C thereof into the annular grooves 5, which will form a bead 15 as shown in Fig. 2. As shown in Figs. 1 and 2, a latch member 1b pivotally secured to one of the arcuate levers G may be employed to lock the levers in the positions wherein they are shown in Fig. 1. After the bead 15 has been formed, the levers (3 are swung out of the positions wherein they are shown in Fig. 1 and the bracket member 11 together with the lever 13 and the wheel 14 are removed from the holder 2. From this it will be apparent that the formed blank A can be quickly placed in position for beading the marginal portion C or removed from the device.
To prevent distortion of the formed article when the bead 15 is being produced and to hold the formed articles against displacement relative to the holder 2, l preferably provide a weight 17 adapted to be inserted into the formed blank A to hold it in engagement with the frustro-conical surface of the aperture 3. The weight 17 is preferably provided with a plurality of eyes 18, or the equivalent, whereby the operator may lift the weight from the holder 2.
It will be apparent from the foregoing that in the use of my improved device, the formed blank A is first placed in the holder lwhich the projecting porti y end of said handle havin :i ball therca f is grasped and rotated so that the roi `the shade at this end and i 3 and the weight 17 then positioned to hold the blank in place. It will be apparent 'from the foregoing that I have provided a new ai l inproved device which will prove extremely use'lul in embossing or beading formed lamp shades. In a device of the class described, a holder having a frusto-conical aperture therein for accommodating a sheet of flexible material, a pair of pivoted arcuate members each having a. groove therein and so disposed in relation to said holder that said grooves may be arranged With their surfaces constituting a continuation of the frusto-conical surface of said holder, means for manipulating said arcuate members, means for locking said members With their grooved surfaces in continuation of the surface of said frusto-c'onical member, a frusto-conical member adapted to coact with said holder for securing said flexible sheet therein, said frusto-conical member being bodily removable from said holder, and a manipulable' member sWivelled Within said holder and having means thereon adapted to coact with said grooves for forming an annular bead in said flexible sheet.
