This invention relates to ties, and has more particular reference to a novel lining for the ties.

The invention has for an object the provision of a lining for neckties, which will resist wrinkling and creasing, so that the tie may look neat and tidy without the necessity of often ironing.

The invention has for another object the provision of a lining for neckties, which will efficiently perform its function, and which can be manufactured at a reasonable cost.

For further comprehension of the invention and of the objects and advantages thereof, reference will be had to the following description and accompanying drawings, and to the appended claim in which the various novel features of the invention are more particularly set forth.

Referring to the accompanying drawing, forming a material part of this disclosure:

Fig. 1 is a plan view of a tie lining constructed according to this invention.

Fig. 2 is a transverse sectional view, taken on the line 2 2 of Fig. 1.

Fig. 3 is a longitudinal sectional View, taken on the line 3 3 of Fig. 1.

Fig. 4 is a front view of a necktie in knotted condition, and constructed with the lining disclosed in Fig. 1.

The reference numeral 1() indicates generally the central portion, 11 the rear portion, and 12 the front portion of a tie lining, provided with integral reduced knot portions 13 and 14. The reduced knot portion 13 joins the central and rear portions 10 and 11, respectively, while the reduced knot portion 14 joins the central and front portions 10 and 12, respectively.

Sheet rubber knot portions 15 are positioned behind the reduced knot portions 13 and 14, and of substantially the same length as the reduced knot portions and sewn to the rear, central and front portions, along the edges thereof by stitches 16 as shown in the drawing.

Fig. 4 illustrates a necktie 17 constructed with the lining shown in Fig. 1. Attention is directed that the reduced knot portions 13 and 14 of the lining extend for a short distance before and after the knot 18 of the tie, to allow a tolerance of different size necks of persons Wearing the tie.

lVhile I have illustrated and described the preferred form, construction, and arrangement of the several elements employed, it will be understood that the device is, nevertheless, susceptible of considerable modification therein, and I therefore reserve the right and privilege of resorting to all such changes as may be fairly embodied within the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed.

Having thus described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by United States Letters Patent is:

A lining for neckties, comprising a central portion, reduced knot portions integral with the cent-ral portion, front and rear portions integral with the reduced knot portions, and sheet rubber members of a width equal to the normal width of the lining positioned behind the reduced knot portion and separate therefrom, said sheet rubber members being of the same length as said reduced knot portions whereby longitudinal expansion of the lining is prevented and being secured at their ends to the central portion, land to the front and rear portions respectively.
