DISPLAY STAND.

This invention relates to certain novel improvements in display stands and more particularly to a device adapted for use in displaying display cards having associated therewith neckties or other like articles.
Among the several objects of the invention is the provision of a simple combination and arrangementof parts for effectively supporting a displa card in a convenient position to be viewed.
A still further object of the invention is the production of a device of this character whereby the display card holders, embodied in the invention, .can be expeditiously adjusted to accommodate various sizes of display cards with respect to their lengths.
A further object of the invention is to produce a display card holder which can be expeditiously associated with a supporting rod and be dis-assembled therefrom by one not mechanically inclined.
A still further object of the invention isto produce a display holder constructed in such a manner so as to not interfere with the articles carried by the display card or printed matter thereon.
Other objects will appear hereinafter.
The invention consists in the novel combination and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter more fully described and claimed.
The invention will be best understoOd by reference to the accompanying drawing showing the preferred form of construction and in which:

Figure 5 is a fragmentary sectional detail view taken substantially on line 55 of Fig. 1.
To accomplish the various objects of the invention I provide a pedestal A which inchides a supporting standard 10 and a base plate 11 formed as an integral part of the standard 10. The upper end portion of the standard 10 defines a socket 12 adapted for the reception of a stud 13 formed as an integral part a supporting plate 14 included f as a parto the rack B. 14 defines a socket 15 adapted for the reception of a reduced end portion 16 of the connecting bar 17. The upper end portion of this connecting bar is reduced as at 18 and this reduced portion 18 is insertable through a central opening 19 formed in a top plate 20. The reduced portion 18 is threaded as at 21 and adapted to have threaded engagement with nut 22. This connecting bar 17 primarily serves to properly space and opera tively connect the plates 14 and 20 together, as best illustrated in Fig. 1 of the drawing.
Associated with plates 14 and 20 and disposed in circumferential arrangement are a plurality of carrying rods 22'. Each of these rods 22' have their lower end portions reduced as at 23, Fig. 1 and this reduced portion 23 is adapted to be seated in an opening 24 formed contiguous the peripheral edge 25 of the plate 14. The upper end portion of each of the carrying rods 22 is confined in an opening 26 formed in the plate 20 contiguous the peripheral edge 27 thereof. lVhen the carrying rods 22 are operatively associated with the plates let and 20 they will be disposed, as shown in Fig. 2, in circumferential arrangement with respect to each other.
To associate each of the carrying rods 22' with the plates 14 and 20 the upper end portion of each of the rods 22 is guided manually into the opening 26 after which the plate 14 is slightly sprung downwardly to permit confinement of the reduced end portion 23 in the opening 24, it being pointed out that both plates 14 and 20 are preferably formed of light resilient material. The rack B when as sembled as illustrated in Fig. 1 of the drawing is adapted to be manually rotated relative to the standard A for reasons well known in the art.
In the drawing I have illustrated, Fig. 1, a display card holder C. At this time it is pointed out that each of the carrying rods 22 is adapted to support a display card holder C similar to the construction of the display card holder illustrated in Fig. 1.
This display card holder C includes frame members 28 and 29 preferably formed of light sheet metal of resilient material. The frame member 28 is formed from a strip of material folded upon itself to define a substantially U-shaped channel 30 as best illustrated in Fig. 3. The bight portion 31 of the frame member 28 is slotted longitudinally as at 32 for rea til sons hereinafter set forth. The frame member 29 is likewise formed from a piece of material bent upon itself to define a substan tially U-shaped channel 33. As shown in Fig. 3 the end portions 34 of the display Cfllt 35, which in the present instance supports a plurality of neckties 36, are adapted to be confined in the channels 30 and 33 when in displaying position as illustrated in Fig. 1.
Each of the frame meml'iers 2S and 29 ineludes end portions 36 which are rolled upon themselves to define bearing sleeves 37. These end portions 36 define beyond the bearing sleeves 37 extensions 38 having openings 39 formed therein for registration with openings 40 formed in the end portions 36. A bolt member 41 is adapted to be inserted through the openings 39 and 40 and this bolt member is threaded as at 42 to receive a wing nut 43. The end portion 36 of each of the frame members 28 and 29 being of yieldable material will assume the position illustrated in Fig. 5 when the bolt 41 and wing nut 42 are removed from the frame member. The end portion 36 springing in this position permits the frame member to be expeditiously detached from the carrying rod 22 with which it is associated and likewise when a loose condition exists between the end portion 36 and the bolt 40 the frame member may be adjusted toward the other of the frame members to receive an adjacent end portion 34 of the display card 35.
By providing the slot 32 in the bight portion 31 of the frame member 28 I am permitted to associate with the display stand a display card D of a width less than the length of the slots 32 and which is of a length greater than the distance between the plates 14 and 20. From this it will be apparent that the holder C will accommodate cards'of different lengths as well as cards of difiierent widths.
To associate either of the frame members 28 and 29 with any one of the carrying rods 22 the particular rod 22 is received in the bearing sleeve 37 by sliding the rod 22 between the extension 38 and end portion. 36' until it is confined in the sleeve 37. It is understood that when this operation is taking place the bolt 41 and wing nut 42 is removed from association with the frame member. After the rod 22 has been received in the bearing sleeve 37 the wing nut is threaded upon the bolt 41 to clamp the curved portion defining the bearing sleeve 37 in clamping relation with the adjacent portion of the carrying rod 22 with which the f 'ame member is associated.
If desired the carrying rod 22 together with the frame members 28 and 29 may be removed bodily from the rack B. This is ac complished by swinging the plate 14 in a downward direction to disengage the reduced portion 23 from the opening 24 after which the upper end portion of the carrying rod 22 may be disengaged from the hole 26.
While I have illustrated and described the preferred form of construction for carrying my invention into effect, this is capable of Variations and modification without departing from the spirit of the invention. 1, therefore, do not desire to be limited to the precise details of construction set forth, but desire to avail myself of such variations and modifications as come within the scope of the appended claims.
Having thus set forth my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Let ters Patent is:
l. A display stand including a carrying member, a display card holder including opposite laterally extending members movable toward and away from each other, to accommodate various sizes of display cards and having end portions curved to define bearing sleeves adapted for clamping rela tion with respect to the carrying member, and means for operatively clamping the bearing sleeves to the carrying member.
2. A display stand including a carrying member, a display card holder including opposite laterally extending members adapted to accommodate various sizes of display cards and having end portions curved to define bearing sleeves adapted for clamping relation with respect to the carrying member, and means for operatively clamping the bearing sleeves to the carrying memher.
3. A display card holder including opposite frame members having corresponding end portions curved in a direction to define bearing sleeves for the reception of a supporting element, and defining beyond said bearing sleeves resilient extensions, there being registering openings formed in the end portions and extended portion of each of said frame members, and a securing element insertable through the openings for clamping the bearing sleeves about said supporting element, said securing element including a bolt and wing nut threaded on said bolt.
4. A display card holder including opposite frame members having corresponding end portions curved in a direction to define bearing sleeves for the reception of a supporting element and defining beyond said bearing sleeves resilient extensions, said frame members being bent substantially U- shaped to define longitudinally extending channels for the accommodation of opposite end portions of a display card, and securing means operable upon said resilient extensions for clamping the bearing sleeves about said supporting element.
5. A stand for, display card holders including a pedestal defining a base and having a. socket formed in its upper end portion, spaced plates each having circumferentially arranged openings formed therein, one of said plates defining a stud for confinement in the socket, a connecting member connecting the plates together in Spaced relation, and carrying rods adapted to support display card holders, corresponding end portions of the carrying rods being reduced for confinement in the openings of said one of the plates, the opposite corresponding end portions of the carrying rods being confined in the openings of the other of the plates.
6. A display card holder including opposite frame members having corresponding end portions curved in adirection to define bearing sleeves for the reception of a sup porting element, and defining beyond said bearing sleeves resilient extensions, there being registering openings formed in the end portion and extended portion of each of said frame members, and a securing element insertable through the openings for clamping the bearing sleeves about said supporting element, said securing element including a bolt and a Wing nut threaded on said bolt.
