LIQUID-MEASURING-DISPENSING TANK.
Application filed April 19, 1928. Serial No. 271,224.
My invention relates to liquid measuring dispensing tanks, and an object of the invention is to provide a dispensing tank whereby accurate predetermied amounts of llquld Will be dispensed.
Further the invention provides a dispensing tank embodying a plurality of compart ments graduated in size and arranged to dis pense the contents of any one or more of the same at the will of the operator.
With the preceding and other objects and advantages in mind, the invention consists in the novel combination of elements, construe tions and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter specifically referred to, claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein Figure 1 is a perspective of a liquid dispensing tank constructed in accordance with my invention,

teferring to the invention in detail a conventional pump of rectangular configuration in cross section is provided, and supported upon'the upper end thereof is a dispensing tank base plate 6 also of rectangular formation and formed with an upstanding flange 7 around its edges. Removably mounted on the base plate 6 is a glass rectangular casing 8 having a removable metallic top 9, the latter having a downwardly extending marginal flange 10 which embraces the upper edges of the glass casing. To prevent leakage a gasket 11 is interposed between the lower edges of the casing and the base plate 6.
For the purpose of defining a plurality of graduated compartments in the casing 8, a plurality of stepped uniformly spaced glass partitions 12 extend transversely of the glass casing with their opposite ends extending to opposite side walls of this casing and having their lower edges resting upon the gaskets.
Arranged beneath the base plate 6 is an outlet pipe 14. having communication with a plurality of vertically extending branch pipes 15 which are connected with the base plate, and each of which has communication with one of the compartments above set forth. A control valve 16 is provided in each of the branch pipes and have their operating stems 17 projecting laterally from one face of the standard 5 and equipped with crank handles 18. At its outer end this pipe 14 has connection with the usual dispensing hose 19. i
The usual overflow pipe 20 passes through the base plate 6 and has its upper end below the level of the upper end of the lowest wall 12 so that when all of the compartments are filled to their capacity, any surplus will be carried back to the pump reservoir. Leading from the outer end of the pipe 14L is a rearwardly extending inclined drain pipe 21 which communicates with the overflow pipe 20, so that all, or any one of the graduated compartments may be drained if desired. This pipe 21 is also provided with a valve 16 having its operating stem 22 projecting from the pump standard and provided with a crank handle 23.
The usual pump supply pipe 24. is connected with the base plate 6 between one of the end walls of the casing and the highest partition 12, so that the largest compartment will be first filled. As the liquid is pumped into the dispensing tank the compartments successively overflow until all of them are filled. With all of the compartments filled, liquid may be dispensed from any selected one by opening its coinciding valve 16.
If, for any reason, any one of the compartments is found to retain a greater quantity of liquid than it was intended to retain, a predetermined amount of this liquid may be displaced by arrangin a plurality of superimposed disks 25 in the compartments and anchoring the same to the upper face of the base plate by a bolt 26 which passes through. the disks and is threaded into the base plate. In practice, obviously the largest compartment will be used most and for convenience a graduated scale 27 is arranged vertically in this compartment.
What is claimed is 1. In a dispensing tank, a supported base plate having a plurality of outlets therein, an open ended casing resting upon the base plate, a top removably mounted on the upper end thereof, and a plurality of parallel equally spaced partitions arising from the base plate upon opposite sides of each outlet and with opposite walls of the casing defining a plurality of compartments, said partitions decreasfrom one side towards the other whereby a plurality of compartments of varying capacity are formed, means for supplying liquid to the casing whereby the compartments will be successively filled, and means for discharging liquid from any one of such compartments.
3. In combination a transparent rectangular easing, a base upon which the casing rests, a plurality of uniformly spaced stepped transparent partitions arising from the base and extending to opposite walls of the casing and with these walls defining a plurality of compartments of graduated capacities, means for supplying liquid to the casing whereby the compartments will be successively filled, means for discharging liquid from any one of such compartments, means for displacing a predetermined quantity of li uid from any one of the compartments inc uding a plurality of superimposed liquid displacing elements to be mounted upon the bottom of such compartment, and a fastening element passing through the liquid displacing elements and engaged with such bottom.
4. In a liquid dispensing tank, a receptacle, a plurality of parallel equally spaced partitions in the receptacle and with the opposed walls thereof defining a plurality of compartments, said partitions increasing in height from one side toward the other whereby a plurality of compartments of varying capacity are formed, a supply pipe communicating with the largest compartment, and an overflow pipe communicating with and leading from the smallest compartment.
