The casing comprisesa top 1 and abottom 2 fastened together by bolts 3 passing through the top and bottom.
A coil 4 which is cylindrical, is suitably arranged in the lower portion 2 of the casing,
the casing being offset at 5, to providea depression for the coil 4.
The coil 4 has a central pole 6 and a lateral pole 7 both subject to influence in the usual manner by a. current passing through the coil. The arm 8 is made preferably from sheet metal and has a rear end 9, an intermediate portion 10 parallel to the rear end 9 but offset therefrom as shown in Figure 3. Integral with the arm 8 are extensions 11 and 12 disof the arm.

A screw 19 having a reduced threaded end 20, is arranged in threaded engagementwith 1 the threaded aperture 18 of the portion '17 of the member 15. A nut 21 is applied over the threaded end 20 of the screw19 and adusts the tension of the spring 13'as the same is held between the portion 17 of the bracket and the shoulder 19 of the screwm This provides a' support for the arm or armature '8 cent the lateral pole 7. An additional pole 7- is provided to increase the working effect of the armature, as often considerable resistance will be offered to the vibration of the armature when the device is in use.
The portion 11 of the arm 8' carries a buffer 24 and a polisher 25. These are shown as plugs in threaded engagement with the portion 1] so that the same may be replaced conveniently after worn.
The top 1 of the casing is provided with an elongated aperture 26 within which the buffer 24 vibrates, and a similar elongated slot 27 for the polisher.
The top and bottom of the casing are arran (1 to providea slot 28 at the end of the maci ine adjacent the buffer and polisher. The end of the casing is curved, of the same curve as is the portion 12 of the arm 8. The portion 12 is extended at 29 beyond the side of the casing to form a cuticle set or pusher and being a part of the portion 12 of the The ends 0 armature, vibrates with the armature.
The portion 12 is provided with hooks 30 and 31 near the ends of the same for receiving a file or sand file 32. The hooks 30 and 31 hold the file in position to be vibrated with the armature 8.
Adjacent the slot 28 the top 1 of the casing is provided with a finger guide 33 while the bottom 2 is rovided with a similar guide 34.

in attachment plug 36 is secured by means of bolts 37 at one side of the lower part 2 of the casing and receives a connector upon the end of an electrical conductor for supplying current to the coil 4. Conductors 37 and 38 are electrically connected to the coil 4 and to the attachment plugs 36 in the usual manner.
The operation of the device is as follows:
The plug is connected to the attachment plug 36 whereupon the current is supplied to the coil 4. The present machine is shown as arranged for use with an alternating current so that the current will so energize the coil 4 as to vibrate the armature 8.
Vibration of the armature 8 will reciprocate the parts 11 and 12 thereto attached, and reciprocate or vibrate the buffer 24, the polisher 25, the file 32, and the cuticle set 29.
The machine is applied to the nail for filing the same as shown in Figure 7 with the finger resting on a finger rest 35 and the nail over the nail guide 34 whereupon vibration of the armature will vibrate the file 32 and file the nail in any manner desired by the opera tor.
Figure 10 shows the machine used to set the cuticle above the nail. This is accomplished by pushing the machine so that the cuticle set 29 will be vibrated against the cuticle and thus push it back in .proper manner.
Figure 9 shows the machine in position when buffering or polishing, the usual polish being a plied to the polisher 25 whereupon the bu er 24 is then placed against the nail and vibrated.
It will'be observed that this device accomplishes all of the usual operations incidental to manicurlng, and is compact, easily used, and eflicient in operation.
The drawings show'the device as arranged to be used for alternating current. ,It is to be understood that if the device were to be arranged for use with a direct current an interruptor of any well known kind will be applied so as to interrupt the current through the coil 4.
The machine is very compact and sturdy, a full size machine being no larger than that shown in Figure 1 of the drawings. It may be conveniently carried in a hand bag or vanity case or pocket.
The fin er rest 35 and guide 33 are useful in contro ling the depth and evenness and contour of the cutting or filing of the nail as the finger is rolled on the rest or the machine is rolled on the finger.
Figure 7 shows a finger on the rest 35. Shou d a short out be desired then the finger nail would be moved so as to expose more of the nail to the action of the file 32 and if a longer nail is desired the finger would be lowered or flattened somewhat from the position shown in Figure 7 While as described more or less precisely, the details of my invention relate to a power manicure device yet I do not wish to be understood as limiting myself thereto as I am aware that changes may bemade in the arrangement and proportion of parts and that equivalence may be substituted without departing from the spirit and scope of my invention.
I claim as my invention:
1. A power actuated manicuring device comprising a plurality of tools, a single structure carrying said tools and means for vibrating said structure.
2. A power actuated manicuring device including a dplurality of tools, a structure carrying sai tools and means for imparting reciprocating motion to said structure.
3. A manicuring device comprising an apertured casing, an arm within the said casing, a pluralit of tools on said arm efi'ective through sai apertures, and means for vibrating said arm.
4. A power actuated manicuring device comprising an arm supporting a plurality of tools, a finger rest on said device adjacent certain of said tools, and means for vibrating said arm.
5. A manicuring device comprising 9. casing, a vibrator therein, and a plurality of tools attached to said vibrator operable outwardly of the casing.
'6. A manicuring device comprising 0. casing, a coil within said casin an armature supported at one end and subject to influence by said coil, and tools attached to said armature and projecting through the casing.
7. A manicuring device comprising a casing, a coil in said casing, an armature having a plurality of pole-pieces, a tool attached to said armature operable outwardly of the easing, and means for adjusting the stroke of the armature.
8. A manicuring device comprising a casing, a vibrator therein, a plurality of tools attached to said vibrator operable outwardly of the casing, and adjusting means for said vibrator.
9. A power actuated manicuredevice comprising a coil, an armature carrying a file, and a uide adjacent said file for maintaining said file against a finger nail.
10. A manicuring device comprising a casing, a coil, an armature supported at one end, tools attached to said armature and oper able outwardly of the casing, and means for regulating the stroke of the armature.

Apower actuated manicuring device comprising a casing, a coil within said casing, said coil having a central pole and a lateral .pole, an armature having contacts for both of said poles, said armature having a portion integral therewith for carrying a plurality of tools, the casing being apertured about said tools whereby the same may be readily applied to a finger nail.
12. A power actuated manicuring device comprising a casing, a coil within the cas-' ing, an armature supporting manicuring tools, said casing being apertured whereby said tools may be accessible, and an adjustment for said armature comprising an angle plate secured to the casing and a screw havin a reduced end threaded into the outturne portion of said plate, a flat spring carrying said armature clamped between said screw and the outturned portion of said plate, said outturned portion of said plate being curved to affect the tension of said spring and the connected armature as said screw is moved relative to said end.
13. A power actuated manicuring machine comprising a casing having an elongated aperture therein, a file arranged to vibrate in said aperture, and said casing having a rest adjacent said aperture for the end of a finger whereby said machine may be moved with respect to said finger to govern the amount of cutting of the fingernail.
14. A power actuated manicuring machine comprising a casing having an elongated aperture therein, a file arranged to vibrate in said aperture, and said casing having a rest adjacent said aperture for the end of a finger whereb the inclination of the finger nail to the le may be steadied to secure evenness of the contour of the nail, and which rest governs the amount of cutting of the nail.
