I REMOVABLE TYPE FOURDRINIER PAPER-MAKING MACHINE.

This invention relates to improvements in a removable table type of Fourdrinier paper making machine.
The embodiment of our present invention. disclosed in this application wasoriglnally disclosed in our copending application Serial No. 57,272, filed September 19,1925, of which the present application is a division, and in part in our copending apphcation Serial No. 153,234, filed December-8, 1926. L
It is an object of this invention-to provide an improved Fourdrinier construction wherein the table is laterally removable as a unit upon tracks adapted to be permanently as sociated with the Fourdrinier structure, said tracks being slidably mounted for transverse movement and forming the support for said table unit, .both in operative and removed position.
Other and further important objects of this invention will be apparent from the disclosures in the specification and accompanying drawings. v

be explained, as tracks on which the table is adapted to be moved when a wire is being changed. Said table structure 5 comprises 6 supporting the usual table rolls 7 and suction boxes 8. A wire guide roll 9, a wire stretch roll 10 and an inside wire roll 11 are indicated on the draw- 'lngs.
A breast roll 12'and a lower couch roll 13 are supported independently of the table structure. A wire 14 is shown in normal position passing around said breast and couch rolls and'oversaidtable rolls. It should be are so positioned as to carry the lower run of the wire tracks 4. The importance of this feature will be explained later. supporting the lower run of the wire 14, are journalled in bearings carried by the support- .ing beams 2. Any suitable shaking mechanism may be associated with the breast roll or table structure or both.
The table rails 6 are supported in operative position by flanged rollers 16 running on brackets 19 (Figure 2) which form the beari'ngs for the driving .shaft 17. The flanged rollers 16 are adapted to be housed in pairs hollow brackets'19. The hollow bracket 19 on the back end of each of the beams 18 is drilled and threaded to receive a locking screw 21 secured to the track 4 for locking the table structure in place. The tracks 4, which will hereafter be designated as the inner tracks, are each slidably mounted at one end upon rollers 22 supported from a roller carrying frame 23;. Said. frame 23 in turn is'supported from the rear I-beam 2 and a bracket 24 bolted to the web and upperflange thereof. - bear against the upper surface of the lower flange of the I-rail 4 (Figure 4). Said bevelled rollers 25 are rotatably mounted upon pins 26 carried by upstanding portions 27 and 28 of the frame23. Apair of oppositely positioned adjusting bolts 29 are also adapted to be supported in normal position on a shoe 30 formed on a roller carrying frame 31 mounted upon the front beam 2.
Said roller carrying frame 31 is in general similar in construction to the roller carrying frame 23 and is secured as by means of bolts and a bracket 32 to said beam 2. The shoe 30 is provided with a curved surface 33 onto which the rail 4 is adapted to slide. A housing 34 is also mounted on said roller carrying 1 frame 31 over the shoe 30 and is adapted to serve as' a stopfor limiting the forward movement of the track 4. Adjustable bolts 35 are supported from said housing 34 in a similar manner to the bolts 29 and serve to maintain the track 4 in vertical position.
. In the same way as tracks 4 are adapted to support the table structure 5 in normal position, similar tracks 36 are provided to support the table in removed position. Said tracks 36 are each adapted to lie parallel and adjacent to a track 4 and are each slidably mounted upon rollers 37 on the roller carrying frame 31. Cooperating sets of bevelled rollers 38 mounted direetlyabove the rollers 37 serve to hold said tracks 36 in horizontal position during movement thereof. A shoe 39 mounted upon the roller carrying frame 23 is adapted to support the other end of each of the tracks 36. Said tracks 36 are adapted to be rolled out of the front side of the machine and are each provided with a roller 40 at their forward ends for sliding movement over a floor 41. Said roller 40 is journalled in a dependent bracket 42, which limits the move-.
. ment of the rail36 in the opposite direction by abutment against the roller frame 31.
When the paper machine is operating, both sets of tracks -4 and 36 are in telescoped posi tion lying between the supporting front and 'rear beams 2. In order to change the wire,
the tracks 36 are pulled out on the front side of the machine and the table structure 5 rolled out over them. The housing 34 is provided with a flange 43 on its upper surface to form a continuation of the track 4 for the rollers 16 to run on. While the table is raised upon the tracks'36, the tracks. 4 are pulled at the rear to allow a new wire to be strung in position. The tracks 4 are then run back into place and the table rolled back overthem and locked by means of the locking bolt 21. The
tracks 36 are again rolled into telescoped pobelow said tracks and therefore does not intertracks 4 form a permanent part of the table structure-on which the table unit is adapted to normally rest. Since the tracks 4 and 36 are mounted on roller bearing surfaces and are supported in unbalanced position by means of the spaced bevelled rolls 25 and 38 and the flanged rollers 22 and'37, the effort required in moving the tracks 4 and 36 into and out of position is very slight.
We are aware that many changes may be made, and numerous details of construction may be Varied through a wide range Without departing from the principles of this-invention, and we therefore do notpurpose limiting the patent granted hereon, otherwise than necessitated by theprior art.
We claim as our invention:
1. 'In a paper making machine, a table structure and a plurality of pairs of track members on which said table structure may be removed, each pair of said track members comprising parallel, slidable tracks adapted to be extended from the machine in opposite directions.

In a paper making machine of the re movable Fourdrinier type, a laterally removable table structure, a supporting structure therefor, I-rails on which said table structure is normally supported and on which said table may be removed, spaced fianged'rollers mounted from said supporting "structure on which said I-rails are adapted to be rolled transversely of said machine, certain of said rails in extended position forming supports for said table structure when removed from said machine, and other rollers spaced above said first mentioned rollers and cooperating therewith to engage the lower flanges. of said I-rails, whereby said rails aresupported in unbalanced position.
5. In a paper making machine, alaterally removable table structure, a supporting structure therefor, track members allmounted on said supporting structure for transverse movement with respect thereto into laterally extended position, all of said track members being normally positioned beneath said table structure during operation of said machine with 'certain of said traek members supporting said table structure, and means for rolling said table structure over the other of said track members
