Pivotally secured at itsinner end to a suitable fitting 18k associated with theupper' end of the container 5*.is a handle lever 19 preferably composed of a single length of jmetal bent intermediate its ends to provide a pair of spaced legs as disclosed. Loosely mountedVV within a'transverse sleeve 20. at the upper end of the plunger 16 is a depending yoke 21 thelowerends'of the legs of which are 80 loosely arranged within the side legs ofk said handle lever 19, (see Figure 3). Obviously when the koil or grease within the container 5 is under pressure and the fitting 14 of the fitting of an automobile or other mechanism and the valve 9 opened the oil or grease will 1 be forced from the container into the machine fitting. However, in the levent the thefrequired degree to forcibly eject the material from the container and into the machine fitting a reciprocation ofthe handle lever 19 will cause the 'actuation of the plunger rod 16 forsucking the material from the container and thence proj ecting the same through said hose. In view of the foregoing description when .considered in conjunction with the accompanying drawings, it will beapparent that I have provided a novel, simple and highly usefulgrease gun thatis well adapted for all of the purposesfheretofore designated and even though I have herein shown and de! scribed the invention as consisting of certain detail structural elements it is nevertheless to beunderstood that some changes may be made'therein without affecting the spirit and scope of therap'pended claims. Having thus described my invention, what is claimed as new is 1. In a grease gun of the character decontainer above the level of the grease, a
discharge pipe communicating with the lower` end of the container and having a controlV valve therein, a chamber communicating with the upper end of the pipe and having a lateral nipple for' facilitating the attachment ofa discharge hose'thereto, a narrow bore cylindercommunicating with the upper end of the chamber, a plunger rod reciprocatorily mounted within said cylinder, a-yoke loosely pivoted to the upper' end ofthe plunger and depending therefrom, a handle lever pivot-ed at its inner end to the upper end of the container and loosely connected to the lower ends of the legs of said yoke all in a manner and for the purpose described.
2. In a grease gun of the class described, a grease container, means whereby air under pressure may be projected into the container above the level of the grease, a discharge pipe communicating with the lower end of the container Vand having a control valve therein, a chamber communicating with the upper end of the discharge pipe, a discharge er rod, a yoke having its crown portion journaled in said sleeve, the arms of the yoke being disposed downwardly, the free ends of the arms being directed inwardly, a pair of handle forming bars pivotally connected at their inner ends to the top of the container, said bars being disposed on opposite l sides of the upper end portion of the plunger rod, `the intermediate portions of the bars being formed with openings to accommodate the inwardly directed ends of the respective arms of the yoke to operatively connect the bars with the plunger rod, the outer' ends of Y the bars being connectedtogether to provide a handle.
