Description

H. CEEPO CASING HOOK May 21, 1929.
Filed June 15, 1925 INVENTOR W We 4 ATTORNEY Patented May 21, 1929.
UNITED STATES v 1,714,076- PATENT OFFICE.
i HENRY GEEPO, OF CLEVELAND, OHIO.
CASING 11001:.
Application filed June 15, 1925. Serial No. 37,220.
. drawings, hereinafter more fully described and specifically pointedout in the claims.
In the accompanying drawlngs Fig. 1. is a plan of the device; Fig. 2 is a side elevation.
thereof; Fig. 3 is a bottom plan thereof.
The invention comprises two elongated members such as bars, A and B, having lateral offsets C and D intermediate of their respective ends. These offsets are preferably at right angles to the elongated members and the parts accurately fit and overlap each other.
One member, A, serves as a base for the implement and the other, B, is laterally inovable toward and from the same upon guide pins E, E, and is operated by means of the nut F mounted upon a screw F parallel with the pins E, E, and enclosed in the recess or fork G in one extremity of the upper member, the pins being secured in the lower member. Also the under surface of the lower member 7 is offset at H and the shoulder thus formed is beveled at 45 or other degree if desired. The upper surface of the upper member is graduated at I to form a carpenters scale. Also an awl or scratch pin or pencil J can be inserted in an opening in one end of the lower member which is made heavier than the other end to receive the pins E, E.
This end of the upper member is also member, and is thickened to contain the fork G. e
The advantages of the device are numerous. The offset shoulder upon the upper member permits it to be employed as a square.
The beveled shoulder upon the bottom per- 7 shorter than the adjacent end of the lower cessory within the tool so that it may be in-' stantly accessible to the workman and will not be lost where needed. v
' The position of the bevelled shoulder is convenient for mitre work of all sorts and the rightangles provide'means for properly cutting wood neatly at right angles in a manner similar to the use of squares.
Having described the invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Let ters Patent is:
1. In a device of the class described, upper and lower elongated members having lateral offsets intermediate of their ends, said ofl'sets' being at right angles to said members and adapted to fit accurately and overlap each other, one member serving as a base for the device, the other member being laterally movable toward and from the same, the upper member having a forked recess, guide pins connecting said members, a screw parallel with said pins for operating said upper mem- 7 her, a nut therefor inclosed in the forked recess 1n one extremity of the upper member,
said lower member being also provided with an offset on its lower side, the upper surface of the upper member being graduated and also provided with an offset permitting the same to be used as a square.
2. In a device of the class described, upper I and lower elongated members having lateral offsets intermediate their ends, the upper member having a bifurcation in one extremity, guide pins connecting said members, anut parallel with said pins, a nut'thereon for operating said upper member, said nut being disposed in the bifurcated end of the upper member, said lower member being also provided with an offset on its lower side,'the
upper surface of the upper member having graduations thereon and also having an offset permitting the' device to be used as a square.
3. Ina device of the class described, upper and lower elongated members having lateral offsets intermediate their ends, guide pins connecting said members, means for moving said upper and lowermembers toward and from each other, said lower member having a 45 offset on its lower side, the upper surface of the upper member being provided with graduations. and also with an offset permitting the same to be used as a. square.
In testimony whereof, I hereunto set my hand this 10th day of June, 1925.
' HENRY CEEPO.
