CHARLES YA.` REEDER, or CINCINNATI, oHro.
SAFETY BOTTLE HOLDER.
Applicationled March 18, 1927. Serial Nag-1765505. y
My invention relates more particularly to the holding of milk bottles, which are often stolen or broken in the usual way of delivery. For the purpose ofthe safe delivery of the Vmilk bottle and its convenientand sure delivery, I have devised a device for such safe delivery of the full .milk bottle and for the vtaking away of the empty bottles.
The device may be hung up in a basement, on a porch, on the wall or door, or anyother suitable place.
It is very simple in construction, cheap of manufacture, and highly efficient in use. Its various features and advantages will readily become apparent from the following specilication.
In the accompanying drawing, forming a part of this specilication:
Fig. 1, is a side view showing the device in use, Fig. 2, is a bottom view,
Fig. 3, is a sectional view, taken on the line 3-3 of Fig. 2,
Fig. 4, is an endelevation, and l l Fig. 5, is a sectional view, taken on the line 5 5 of Fig. 2. y
I will now describe my bottle holder and refer to the drawings, in which Vit is shown that the holder is including a body part, formed of sides 1, 1, a top 2, and a back plate 3, having bracketed sides 4, 4, secured together in any desired manner.
At the forward end of the body part, I provide a hinged gate 5 which swings in and out at pivot points 6, 6. which pass through one end of the side 1, and at the forward end of the other side 1', I provide an extension 7, having an opening 8. @ne end of the gate 5 has an opening 9 to receive the extension 7 so that the ygate may be locked, as shown in Fig. 4.
The sides 1 and 1 are turned up at their edges 10 so as to form guides 12 which support seat portions 13 provided by yielding fabric strips 14 connected to the sides 1 and 1 by rivet connections 15. v v
To the under side of the top 2, I secure a spring 16 having at its forward end a disc 17 and provide cross springs 18, which extend outwardly from the disc 17. l
On the top 2, I provide springs 19, 19,
which hold the 'empty bottles 20, and said empty bottles are inserted between the springs, head down, as shown in Fig. 1.
y In-order to place a full milk bottle in the device, the top of the bottle is forced up.- Wardly against the disc 17 and disc spring 18,
causing the spring 16, to become flattened or straightened out, which will allow the bot-A tle to be pushed forward and allow said bottoy tle to become suspended on seats 13, and the f ioning means, if I desire to do so.
I may change the shape and contour ofthe device, if kI desire. v
While I have described one specific form back into normal position and the of carrying my invention into effect, I may change and modify the same to some extent without departing from the spirit of the invention, and I wish to be understood as claiming all such changes and modifications which fall within the vscope of this specification and claims. f y What I claim as new and my invention and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. In a safety bottle holder the combina-` l i tion of a support bracket `comprising a depending rear wall and side walls, a bottle supporting' means comprising inturn'ed flanges extending at an angle from said side walls I and terminating adjacent thereto to provide a bottle receiving opening and a resiliently mounted stop carried by the bottle support and disposed in the receiving opening, the
support bracket and resilient stop being so relatedto 'the receiving opening as to preclu'de access to the stop for holding it in an inoperative position when a bottle vin the support means is moved adjacent thereto.
2. In combination a mounting support bracket comprising depending i'ezu and side Walls, e bottle support comprising a closed top and inwardly depending flanges disposed in an angle tothe bracket und forming a receiving opening Within the bracket, L spring mounted on the underside of said top at the receiving opening7 a disk yieldably closing the support means against Withdrawal of the bottle through the receiying opening and a transverse strip on the disk.
In testimony whereof, I affix my signature at the city of Cincinnati, county of Hamilton and State of Ohio, this 28th day of February, 1927. Y
CHARLES A. REEDER.
