CASE "WITH CLIP.
Application filed May 18, 1928.
My present invention has reference to a supportingl clip for pencil cases or like cases, and my object is the provision of a device for this purpose which will not only serve as a 5 supporting clip but which will effectively brace and reinforce the back of the case.
To the attainment of the above broadly stated objects the invention consists in the improvement as hereinafter described. and
lo definitely claimed.
ln the drawings: Figure l is a rear elevation of a, pencil or like case equipped with the improvement.
Figure 2 a sectional View approximately on the line 2 2 of Figure l.
Figure l is a sectional 'View approximately on the line 3 3 of Figure 2.
Figure il is a view substantially similar to lligure 3 but illustrati4 g' a slight modifica- LU tion. A
Figure 5 is a transverse sectional view approximately on the line 5 5 of Figure l.
ln the showing of the drawings, the improvement is disclosed in applied position on a leather or like fabric pencil or pen case l. Obviously the improvement may lie employed in Connection with other types o't cases.
Arranged on the inner face of the hack of the case l there is an elongated metal plate Q. This plate is con'iparatively thin but is of sufficient strength to amply reinforce the back of the case, so that the bulging of the case will be effectively prevented. The metal plate 2, at desi ed points throughout its length is slitted both longitudinally and transversely and the metal bounded by these slit-s provide bendable ribs 3 designed to be first arrzfinged rightangularly with respect to the case l and to be inserted through the back thereof and thereafter bent in hookshape against the outer face of the back of the oase, as disclosed by the drawings.
tl t) Serial No. 278.822.
ln Figure et the construction is similar to that just. described except that the plate is fluted or corrugated longitudinally to more etliectively grip the hack of the case when secured thereon, and the flutes or corrugat'ions provide guides for the pencil or like instrument Which is inserted in the case.
The simplicity of the construction Will` it is thought. be perfectly apparent to those skilled in the art Without further detailed description.
Having described the inventionj l claim The combination with a flexible case, of a plate arranged in the and Which plate is tinted longitrulinally and of a length slightly less than the length of the ease, said plate haring integral bendable tongues which are passed through the back of the case and forced against such case, the outer end of the plate ha ving its edges inclined toward the center thereof and the center formed with a reduced extension providing' a tongue which is designed to be lient rightangularly with respect to the plate and to be passed tln'ough the back of the case and thereafter rounded clo\ifi1\\fa1tlly and to contact with the case and from thence outwardly to form a clip for the case.
In testimony whereof l aflix my signature.
CLARENCE VILAS KUESTER.
