ALBERT BELAIR, 0F MONTREAL, QUEBEC, CANADA.
HAT AND GOAT HOOK.
Application filed December 19, 1925, Serial My invention relates to improvements in bat and coat hooks, and more particularly to hooks wherein the hat is retained more securely than by the ordinary hook.
The object of my invention is to produce a hook of the nature above described, of simple construction without sacrificing the rigidity.
In the accompanying drawings- Figure 1 is a side view of the hook with the pivoted portion shown open in dotted lines;
Figure 2 is a top View thereof.
The hook comprises a main portion 3 shaped as shown and turned at its lower end to form a hook 4. Above this hook a straight integral portion 5 extends outwardly, forming a second hook for a hat, for instance. At the upper end of the main portion 3 is pivoted a double hook comprising an extension 6, a body portion 7 anda second extension 8. The modes of pivoting this hook may be rivet 9 or any other suitable pivot. In order to secure the hook, a plate 10 integral with the main portion 3 is used, this plate being perforated at 11 to fasten same in the usual way. I
In operation, the double hook is raised as shown in dotted lines inFigure 1, when a hat may be placed on the hook 5 and this double hook brought down against the brim of the hat, which is retained in place between the portions 3 and 7 at 12. The hat will thus be'securely held, especially if an No. 76,556, and in Canada December 4, 1925.
article is suspended from the hooks 6 or 8 which will add weight to the bearing portion of the double hook and press more firmly on the hat brim.'
I have shown an illustrationof my invention well adapted for the purpose described but it should be understood thatchanges in the shape and dimensions of the hook may be made without departing from the essence of the claim hereto appended.
, What I claim as new and useful is A hook composed of a vertical member having means to fasten the same to a wall,
the lower end of said Vertical member being turned outwardly to form a hook, an extending portion above and adjacent said hook projeoting at right angles to said vertical memher, a lug at the upper end of said vertical member, a second member pivoted on said lug, said second member extending at right angles to said vertical member to form a hook and having a depending portion curved outwardly and bent at its lower end at right angles so as to form a heel torest upon said vertical member and a hook portion running parallel to the extending portion of the vertical member, the said heel forming a retainer for the brim of a hat, while the crown isheld by the two extending portions.
In testimony whereof, I have hereto affixed my signature at the city of Montreal, Canada.
- his ALBERT BELAIR.
