UNITED STATES, PATENT OFFICE...
DELBERT BAKER, 0F TULSA, OKLAHOMA.
HOOK.
Application filed February 27, 1928. Serial No. 257,493.
the accompanying drawings and specifically pointed out in the appended claims.
In describing my invention in detail, ref- 7 erence will be had to the accompanying drawings wherein like charactersdenote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in which Figure 1 is an elevation ofthe improved device.
Figure 2' is an edge view thereof.
In these views, the numeral 1 indicates the body of the hook which is provided with a threaded stem 2 fastened to a hole in the shackle 3, a nut at being threaded to the stem to rotatably' connect the parts together and anti-friction means 5 are placed between the nut and shackle to eliminate friction between the parts. A latch lever 6 is designed to close the mouth of the this latch lever being pivotally and movably connected with the body 1 through means of the pin 7 carried by the body and passing through a slot 8 in the lever 6. A finger lever or trigger 9 is pivotally arranged in the body and has its finger part arranged in an opening 10 passing through the body so that the lever'can be manipulated by a finger of the user. A linkll connects the finger lever,
intermediate its ends, with a lever 12 which;
is pivoted in the body, as shown at 18, and is pivoted at its other end to the lever 63, as
' shown at 14. A spring 15 en ages the finger to hold the parts lever or trigger and acts with thelat'ch lever 6 closing the mouth of the opening of the hook.
From the foregoing it will be seenthat an object placed in the opening is locked therein by the latch lever 6 so that there is no danger opening of the hook,
of the object comin out and by pressing upon the trigger, the links will move the latch lever to releasing position bysliding the latch lever upwardly so that an .ob ect can be placed in engagement with the hook or removed therefrom. As soon as-the pressure is removed from the trigger, the parts Wlll automatically movethe latch lever to locking position.
ihUS I have provided simple means for of the opening locking an object in the hook so that there is I no danger of it becoming detached from the hook, such means being easily operable to move the locking member into inoperative position.
It is thought from the foregoing description that the advantages and novel features of my invention will be readily apparent.
It is to be understood that I may make changes in the construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several I parts, provided that such changes fall within the scope of the appended claims.
lVhat I claim is 1 l. A hook of the class described comprising a latch lever for closing opening of the hook, means for slidably and the .mouth of the v pivotally connecting the lever with the body of the hook, a trigger pivotally arranged in the body, a link pivoted at one end to the body and having its other end pivoted to the latch lover, a link connecting the first mentioned link with the trigger and a spring engaging the trigger for holding the parts with the latch lever in latching position.
2. A hook of the class described comprising a latch lever for closing the mouth of the opening of the hook, means for slidably and pivotally connecting the lever with the body of the hook, a trigger pivotally arranged in the body, a link pivoted at 1 body and having. its other end pivoted tothe latch lever,a link connecting the first men-, tioned link with the trigger and a spring engaging the trigger for holding the parts with the latch lever in latching position, the body of the hook having an opening passing thereone end to the In testimony whereof I afix my signature. 7
