FIELD TUBE BOILER.
Application filed April 22, 1926, Serial No. 103,938, and in Germany May 4, 1925.
This invention relates to Field tube boilers having heating tubes which are connected indirectly to the boiler drum by means of intermediate pipes fixed to the drum in a waterti ght manner and which are provided at their free ends projecting outside the wall of the boiler, with means for the attachment of the heating tubes.
The present invention has for its object to provide an improved mode of mounting the Field tubes and circulating tubes which will enable these parts to be readily removed for cleaning or for replacement,
According to the invention the circulating tubes inside the Field tubes are in two parts which are connected together at the point of connection of theheating tubes with the intermediate tubes.
The invention thus renders it possible to arrange all fastenings, namely the fastening of the heating tubes to the boiler, that of the two parts of the liquid circulating tubes to each other, at a central point. In this way, a more simple, reliable, and economical steam boiler is produced suitable for highest pressures. I
The invenion is illustrated by way of example in the accompanying drawings in which Figure 1 is a cross section through the boiler drum of a Field tube boiler with the Field tubes arranged thereon;
l igure shows the connection between the Field tube and boiler drum on an enlarged scale, in which a straight intermi'idiatc pipe is employed;
Figure is a modification of Figure 9 in which is employed an intermediate pipe which is arranged radially;
Figure l is a modification of the construction illustrated in Figure 1;
Figure 5 is a development of the lower part (Z of the boiler drum according to Figure l.
In the drawing a is the boiler drum of a Field tube boiler in which the intermediate pipes Z) are fixed. On these intermediate pipes the heating tubes 6, in which the twopart liquid circulating tubes 0 are arranged, are fixed for instance by means of flanges (Z. The tubes 0 conduct the water from the boiler drum to the bottom of the heating tubes 22. The two parts of the liquid circulating tubes are screwed to one another by means of a screwed sleeve f the upper partsc' ofwhich and 4 or upon the flared upper other type of connection can be used. The
supports 9, which rest tightly. or loosely on the :mtermed1ate pipes b, can be pressed against the pipe b by screwing up the sleeve f, the liquid conveying tubes bein thereby lixed in position. As the surrounding hood 1 is fastened to the upper part c of the tube 0, the hood is at the same time pressed against the wall of the drum (Figs. 3 und d) or the upper end of the intermediate pipe 6.
According to Figures 4 and 5 the spacing at of the tubes can be made smaller or greater than the spacing t of the fastening places of the intermediate desired.
The upper parts a of the tubes 0 extend the entire length of the hood and communicate with the water space of the drum a bymeans pipes to the boiler drum as of transverse horizontal tubes 6 What 1 claim is i i 1. In a Field tube boiler, the combination with a boiler d ruin of intermediate pipes fixed inlhe boiler drum so as to extend outwardly therefrom, heating tubes delai'ihablv fixed to said intoruimliute pipes, two-partridculating tubes inside said heating tubes and intermediate pipes, means for connecting the two parts of the circulating tubes at the point of connection of the heating tubes with the intermediate pipes, and means for supporting said circulating pipes at the free ends of the intermediate pipes, as set forth.
In a Field tube boiler, the combination with a boiler drum of intermediate pipes fixed in the boiler drum so as toextend outwardly therefrom, heating tubes detachably fixed to said intermediate pipes, hoods inside the boiler drum for conducting fluid from the heating tubes to a point above the water level in the said boiler drum, two part circulating tubes inside said heating tubes, intermediate pipes and said hoods for conducting water from the boiler drum to the bottom ofthe heating tubes, said circulating tubes being for supporting the circulating pipes at the free ends 01" the intermediate pipes, as set forth.
In testimony whereof I have signed my heme to this specification.
ADOLF SCHNEIDER.
