f Pocirnrnoon ann verirrt? cass] Application filed December My invention lrelatesto a pocketbook and vanityv case, and the saine has for its mani object the provision of an improved pocketbook and vanity case arrangement which will embody certain desired features of sint piicity, efhcicncy and convenience and which will be economical to niai'iufacture and durable in use.
Another object of my invention lis the provision of anv arrangement in which the pocketbook is inadein the forni of a flap covering designed to be buttoned or otherwise fastened about thevanity case.
Other objects Will appear hereinafter.
The invention consists in the coinbinahr tions and arrangements of parts hereinafter described and claimed. f
The invention will be best understood by reference to the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specication, and in which,
Fig. 1 is a view in perspective of my improved article, showing it as it appears When closed.
Fig. 2 is a front perspective view, showing the flap covering unbuttoned and swung into open position Fig. 3 represents a cross section taken on the line 3 3 of Fig. 1;
Fig. l is another perspective view of the device When closed, this view, however, being taken so as to illustratefthe back and bottom parts of the device; and, l
Fig. 5 is a front view in perspective, showing both the vanity caso and the flap covering in open position.
, 1n its preferred embodiment as illustrated in the accompanying drawings, my improved device comprises box body sections G and 7 which have their respective bottom sides or plates 8 and 9 connected by suitable hinges 10 for opening vand closing movement. `For securing the sections 6 and 7 together in closed relation, theirtrespective top sides or plates 11 and 12 are provided With any suitable fasteners.' `In the exemplification herein shown, the top' side or plate 12 is furnished With a catchfastener 13 which is adapted to cooperate With a keeper fastener 111 arranged rupon the top side or plate 11. The interiors of the boxbody sections 6 and 7 may be arranged, subdivided and finished in any manner suitable for containing the various toilet articles usually carried in vanity cases. In accordy sides or is, 1925. serial no. 76,352.
ance rwith an important feature "of any present invention, l provide a pocketbook in the forni of a flap vcoiffering 15 confoimingiy fitting the tivo boobody sections 6 and 7' ln the construction shown, the flap 15 basa portion 16 which isy sesol cured Las upon the front or face of the box i section G and is coextensive therewith; a portion 17 which secured to the bottom sides or plates 8 yand 9 for covering the saine; back portion 18 which covers the face of the box body section 7 and ris connected thereto by suitably folded end pieces 19 arranged to produce a pocket 2O between the face of the box-body section 7 and the covering portion 18. The fiap covering also has a topportion 21 to cover the top plates 11 and 12 as yWell vas the fasteners thereon. The flap covering, furthermore, has a front portion 22 designed to cover a mirror 23 which is suitably sccured to the, front of the boX-body section 6 and over the front covering portion 16 thereon. Preferably and as shown, the front covering portion 22 is adapted to be buttoned to the front covering portionv 16 by means of a button`24 which isw adapted to be engaged with a snapping action 'in the keeper 25. In the exemplification shown, the hinge members 10 are ysecured to the bottom. sides or .plates -8 and 9 over the covering portion 17; but they may, in practice, be suitably arranged under said covering portion 17. i i
rThe flap covering 15 is made of leather, imitation leather, or any suitable, pliable lmaterial adapted readily to bend snugly about the corners of the box-body sections. rPhe top portion 21 of the flap covering is equipped With a suitable handle 26V by which to carry the device when the button 211 has been secured in its keeper 25. Obviously, the mirror may be used by simply unfastening the button 24 and raisingr up the Hap covering.y To use the mirror, therefore, the box'sections need not be opened and the `contents vof the `pocket need not be disturbed. i
In another condition of use, the box-body section 6 may be laid in horizontal position and the companion section7 moved vertically therefrom. Access, therefore, may be had to the interior of the vanity case without' disturbing the contents of the pocket 20;
While I have illustrated and described.V
