Patented Feb. 19,1929.
UNITED STATES;
- 1,702,873 PATENT, OFFICE.
I WILLIAM H. KUPFER, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS.
'xITcHmr REMINDER.
Application fll-ed June '4,
' This invention relates to a kitchen reminder, which is particularly adapted for convenient use in the home.
One of the main objects of this invention is to provide such a reminder which is readily constructed and is economical in manufacture, and which is eflicient in use. A. further object is to provide areminder so arranged as to be conveniently operated, and wherein the movable indicating elements are safely retained and prevented from being dropped and lost from the reminder.
These objects and other objects and advantages are attained with this invention, as Wlll become apparent from the following disclosure, taken in connection with the accompany.- ing drawing, in which,
Fig. 1 is a face view of the reminder Fig. 2 is a longitudinal sectional view of the reminder, taken on line 2-2 of Fig. 1; and
Fig. 3 is an enlarged cross-sectional view thereof, taken on line 33 of Fig. 1.
The drawing illustrates my invention in its preferred form, comprising asupporting member or base 6, substantially in the form of a plate, which preferably has its edges 6 bent and smooth adapting it to be laid on a shelf or table, and which has a hole 7 therein for suspending it vertically.
A guide member 8 is provided for guiding the indicating elements explained below. It is preferably arranged tubular or semi-cylindrical in shape, and is mounted on the base 6, by the use of cleats or tongues'9 and slots 10. The member is also provided with main guide means, preferably in the form of a main stem, which is slidable in slots'11 and 12, and
has a head 15 at each end; thus making said elements readily movable in said slots 11 and 12, and at the same time preventing. removal or loss of said elements from the guide member 8. The idle elements 14 are stored in the lower end 11 of slot 11 positioned at the lower 1928. Serial No. 282,697.
end of member 8, and as the reminder is suspended the idle elements will automatically drop into said storage means 11' as soon as withdrawn from the branch means 12.
The guide member 8 is readily out out or stamped from a sheet of suitable material and bent into the desired shape, with the end lips 8 bent up, as are indicated in the drawing, to provide the slots 11, 12 and '11 for guiding and retaining the elements 14 therein; and said member is readily mounted on the base by means of said tongues 9; thus providing an eflicient, inexpensive, and conveniently operable reminder.
What I claim asmy invention and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
' -1. A reminder comprising a base plate, a semi-cylindrical guide member mounted on the front face thereof and being .provided witha main guide slot extendingcentrally down its front and branch guideslots extending from the main slot, indiciain the form of names for articles provided on the base plate, one adjacent each branch slot, and indlcatlng elements mounted to be moved in said slots but to prevent removal therefrom,
an element, being retained adjacent one of the names.
2. A reminder comprising a base, a semieylindrical guide member having rear tongues to cleat it on the front of said base and being provided with a main guide slot and with branch slots extending from the main slot,
indicia in the form of names for articles prov1de' d on said base along said branch slots, and 1nd1cat1ng elementsincluding each a stem slidable in said slots and having heads at its ends to prevent removal or loss from'said member. 1
A reminder comprising a base plate,
a semi-cylindrical guide member having tongues "on the rear edges Whereby it is cleated on thefront face of said base plate and having main and branch slots provided centrally along its curved front portion, indicia to re'p resent articles, indicating means lncluding' each a stem movable in saidslots and having means to prevent loss from said member, a stem being movable in a branch slot; for cooperation with said indicia, and a portion at the lower part of said member provided with a slot for storing the idle indicating means.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification.
