The present invention relates to wall pockets, particularly such as are adapted to be mounted on the walls or doors of automobiles and the like for the purpose of containing matches, cigarettes, etc; and its object is to provide an improved device of that character constructed as hereinafter particularly described and illustrated by the accompanyinp,- drawings, in which:

F 1 is an interior view of an automobile in which my wall pocket is shown in mounted position;

2 is a view in perspective of a portion of the said wall pocket structure, shown however partially in vertical section and with connected parts of the automobile; and

3 is a like view of such a portion of the wall pocket, but showing a modified con struction.

In the embodiment of the invention illustrated by the drawings, a wall pocket is shown mounted below and in connection with the window opening of an automobile. This wall pocket comprises a horizontally-c i posed face member 1 having a main portion. 2 and a portion 3 in its middle spaced outwardly from said main portion and comp rising a front part 4; disposed parallelly with the main portion 2, and end parts 5 extending angularly between said front part 4 and said main portion 2. This outwardly spaced portion 3 forms the outer wall of a container 6 for small articles such as cigarettes, matches and the like. The wall pocket also comprises a horizontallydisposed top member 7 which extends outwardly over said L outwardlyspaced portion 3 and inwardly from the main portion 2 of the face member 1, and is adapted to be secured as by screws 8 to the lower side of the Window opening 9, thus forming a sill for said opening. This top member 7 also extends reversely at 12 beneath the body 13 of the top plate (as particularly well seen in Figs. 2 and 1927. Serial No. 191,033.

These parts are preferably formed integrally by bending or die-pressing a sheet of metal, and an outwardly extending, rib 10 is preferably formed between the portions of the sheet metal which comprise the face member 1 with its portions 2 and 3 and the top member 7. The glass window closure 11 is, in the construction shown, adapted to slide to open and closed positions along the bend of the metal between the body 13 of the top plate 7 and its reverse extension 12.

An outwardly extending rib 14 is also formed along the lower edge of the face plate 1 and its outwardly spaced portion 2, as shown.

In Figs. 1 and 2 the container 6 is shown provided with an element 15 swingable to open and closed positions; while in Fig. 3 the container comprises an open top receptacle 16.

The invention being intended to be pointed out in the claim, is not to be limited to or by details of construction of the particular embodiments thereof illustrated by the drawingrs or hereinbefore described.

I claim:

A device of the character described com prising: a horizontally-disposed face member having a main portion and a portion integral therewith and spaced outwardly therefrom and forming the outer Wall of a container; a horizontally-disposed top member integral with the face member and extending outwardly over said outer wall and inwardly from the main portion of the face member, said members having an outwardly-extending rib portion therebetween.
