Description
April 7, 1931. c. A. ELTAG CONDIMENT CONTAINER Original Filed June 10, 1926 Patented Apr. 7, 1931 UNITED STATES PATENT-OFFICE CHARLES A. ELTAG, OF MIIiWA'Iil'KEE, WISCONSIN connnmn'r consumer.
Application flied June 10, 1926, Serial No, 114,951.
Another object of this invention resides.
an improved condiment in the provision of two compartments, the
container having spouts of which curve in opposite directions and are so disposed as to preclude the discharge of the contents of both compartments at one time.
A further object of this invention resides in the provision of an improved condiment container having two or more sections or compartments molded, cast, blown, or
' formed from stampings.
And a still further object of this invention resides in the provision of an improved condiment container of the character described which is practical and ornamental.
With the above and other objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, my invention resides in the novel construction, combination and arrangement of parts substantially as hereinafter described and more particularly defined by the appended claim, it being understood that such changes in the precise embodiment of the herein disclosed invention may be made as come within the scope of the claim.
In the accompanying drawing, I have illustrated one complete example of the physical embodiment of my invention constructed according to the best mode I have so far devised for the practical application of the principles thereof, and in which:
Figure 1 is a view in side elevation of a condiment container embodying my invention, and
Figure 2 is a transverse section taken through Figure 1 on the plane of the line 2-2.
Referring now more particularly to the accompanying merals designate like parts several views, the numeral body portion of Renewed August 20, 1930.
drawing in which like n'uthroughout. the 5 designates the a two compartment condiment container having two sections or compartments .6 and or wall 8. A
perforated cap 10 7, separated by a partition discharge spout 9 having a extends from each compartment to provide means for permitting the discharge of the compartment contents. The bottom wall 11 of the body portion of the condiment holder is flattened to permit the standing of the container as illustrated in Figure 1.
The condiment holder may be molded, stamped or blown, illustrated as stamped in having an inne and in the drawing is two sections each r fiat wall 12 adapted to abut the other section and secured thereto by a pressed-out portion or button 13 on one wall,
having a tight, snap or recess 14 in off-set portions 15 may button 13 to engage a or off-set in the recess fit in a pressed-inportion the other wall. One or more be formed in the complementary notch to prevent the rotation of the sections, in the event the portions 13 and 14 are substantially round.
As illustrated, the portions 13 and 14 may be of approximately snap button construction with an annularly peripheral bead 16 on the portion 13 engaging in an annular groove or channel 17 in the portion 14. As previously stated the sections 6 and 7 may be inclependently formed in any desired manner, the
usual construction being to form each section in halves secured together,
as at 18.
The spouts 9 curve laterally in opposite directions and are so disposed that when one is. in a discharge position, upwardly to prevent the other extends the discharge of its associated compartment, thus providing a very simple but efiicient condiment container with charge of both suflicient guard against the simultaneous discompartments.
From the foregoing description taken in connection with the accompanying drawing,
it will be readily apparent to those skilled in the art to which an invention of this character appertains, and improved that I provide a very novel condiment container adapte d Inn for use with salt and pepper, or the like, which is extremely simple but ornamental in construction, and which lends itself to quantity production at comparatively low cost.
What I claim as my invention is:
The combination with a condiment container having a flattened side provided with a depression having an overhan ing margin, :1 portion of the depression am? margin being non-conforming to the general contour of said depression; of a second condiment container having a flattened side provided with a raised portion positioned in and complementary to the depression and to the nonconforming portion of the depression, said raised portion having an overhanging margin interlocked with the first mentioned margin, said containers having their discharge spouts disposed in opposite directions.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature.
CHARLES A. ELTAG.
