Description

March 24, LEBEGUE SANITARY WASHDOWN CLOSET DISINFECTOR Filed Feb. 20, 1930 Invenlor Patented Mar. 24, 1931 easier HERBERT LEIBEGUE, F HIGHLAND, ILLINOIS SANITARY WASH-DOWN CLOSET DISINFECTOR Application filed February 20, 1930. Serial No. 430,009.
The present invention relates to a disinfect-or for use in the closet tanks and the prime object of the invention resides in the provision of a container for a disinfectant constructed so as to release an amount of the disinfectant when the closet is flushed so as to allow the same to become mixed with water as the tank is refilled.
Another very important object of the invention resides in the provision of a device of this nature which is exceedingly simple in its construction, inexpensive to manufacture, easy to install, thoroughly efiicient and reliable in use, adjustable, and otherwise well adapted to the purpose for which it is de signed.
lVith the above and numerous other objects in view as will appear as the description pro ceeds, the invention resides in certain novel features of construction, and in the combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described and claimed.
In the drawing:
Figure l is a view in side elevation of an embodiment of the invention.
Figure 2 is a vertical section taken substantially on the line 2-2 of Figure 1.
Figure 3 is a horizontal section taken substantially on the line 33 of Figure 2.
Referring to the drawings in detail, it will be seen that the reference numeral 10 designates a base which is formed with a central depression extending down from the top of said base and the top is beveled inwardly and has a plurality of ribs 21 thereon for receiving the shoulder of the inverted bottle 6. The bottle 6 is adapted to contain the disinfecta'nt to be mixed with the water in the closet tank and to this end may be provided with any suitable means in its mouth for slowly dispensing the disinfecting liquid, such as the stopper 9 which may have a suitable passage (not shown) therethrough.
The base 10 is substantially frusto-conica1 in shape and is formed preferably of heavy material. A. plurality of resilient arms 15 are secured at circumferentially spaced points to the base 10 and extend vertically therefrom in engagement with the wall of the bottle 6. The arms 15 terminate at their upper ends in the latches 24 which engage over the upper end of the bottle 6 and it will thus be seen that said bottle is supported in proper position on the base 10. The arms 15 are mounted on the base 10 through the medium of the obtusely angled lower portions 23 through which suitable anchoring screws pass.
As clearly seen in Figure 2 of the drawings the neck of the bottle 6 extends into the depressions 20 and said depressions receive the disinfectant from said bottle. The ribs 21 serve to support the bottle in slightly elevated position on the block to provide a space for the passage of water into the depressions to seal the bottle and also for the escape of the water and the disinfectant from the depression 20.
Obviously, when the closet tank in which the device is disposed is filled with water, said water flows into the depressions 20 and will seal the mouth of the bottle 6 and prevent the discharge of the disinfecting liquid from said bottle. When the tank is emptied or the level of the water therein falls below the mouth of the bottle 6, then the disinfecting liquid will flow from the bottle and mix with the water until the level of the water again rises above the mouth of the bottle and seals said mouth.
The present embodiments of the invention have been described in considerable detail merely for the purposes of exemplification since in actual practice they attain the features of advantage enumerated as desirable in the statement of the invention and the above description.
It is apparent that changes in the details of construction, combination and arrangeof Parts y e to ut departing from the spirit or scope of the invention as hereinafter claimed or sacrificing any of its advantages.
Having thus described my invention, What I claim as new is:
A device of the class described comprising a base having a depression in the top thereof, an inverted bottle resting on the base With the neck depending in the recess, and means for controlling the flow of fluid from the bottie through the neck, ribs formed on top of the base on which the bottle rests.
In testimony'whereof I aflixmy signature.
HERBERT LEBEGUE.
