IMPROVEMENT IN ARTIFICIAL TEETH.
' Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. FY9382, dated June 27, 1876; application filed May 22, 1876.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, THOMAS WrLLrAMs, of Braytonville, North Adams, Berkshire county, Massachusetts, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Artificial Teeth, of which the following is a specification:
Figure 1 is a front view of a number of artificial teeth, illustrating my invention. Fig. 2 is a side view of the same; and Fig. 3 is a horizontal section of the same, taken through the line 00 a Fig. 1.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
The object of this invention is to furnish an improved mode of securing artificial upper front teeth in place in such a way that they will be held firmly in place, and may be readily put in and taken out.
The invention consists in the plate and teeth having grooves or channels along the sides of the. outer teeth, and provided with the spring 'and the plate or pad, as hereinafter fully described.
A represents a plate of rubber or other material, to which the teeth B are attached. The teeth B are made a little larger than the natural teeth, and have grooves or channels along the outer side of the outer teeth, to he slipped upon the natural teeth. To the inner part of the plate A is attached the end of a spring, C. To the other end of the spring (J is attached a plate or pad, D, which rests against the roof of the mouth, and holds the teeth to their places.
In the case of lower teeth, the teeth and plate are provided with side channels, but the spring and its pad are not used.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The plate A and teeth B, having grooves or channels along the sides of the outer teeth, and provided with the spring 0 and pad D, substantially as herein shown and described.
