The object which I have in view isthe. provision of a new and improved renewable fuse of substantial yet inexpensive construction, which may be readily assembled, and disassembled by unskilled persons and with-. out the use of specialitools, and which will be sealed against the escape of flame from the fuse body along the terminal blades.
In the accompanying drawings, wherein I have illustrated the best embodiment of the principles of my invention now known tfzo me, Fig. 1 is a longitudinal section of the use.

On each end of the shell 1 a metal ferrule 2 is fixed, as by threaded engagement and riveting.
The outer ends of the ferrules are provided with recesses which form the seats 3. I prefer to provide two of such seats in each ferrule and dispose them diametrically of the ferrule as shown in'Fig. 8.
The shell and the ferrules comprise the tubular body of the fuse.

The disk is circularand of substantially the samediameter as the washer, so that when the disk is in its sealing position the perimetral edges of the washer and disk are in substantial registration. l
The washer is provided with fixed filler block 17 on its outer face on the opposite side of the. blade from the side from which the sealing disk. is. slid into position, which block body,
disk and the filler block and thus holding the parts fixedly to the body of the fuse.
In assembling the fuse, the terminal blades are attached to the ends of the. fusible link and the terminal blade 5 and the link are inserted through the right end of the body in Fig. 1 until the closure head 7 seats on the end of the body. The corresponding cap 9 is then screwed in place.
The slotted washer is then slipped down over the blade 5 against the abutment 1.0 and engaging the seats 3 in the ferrule. The sealing disk is then slipped into position and the corresponding cap 9 is then screwed onto the end of the body.
When the parts are to he disassembled, the right hand screw cap, in Fig. 1, is first removed and then the left hand cap and the sealing disk and slotted washer. The terminals are thus released.
It is evident that the assemblage and disassemblage of my improved fuse may be quickly and conveniently accomplished.
It is further evident that the slot of the washeris sealed at its sides by the abutment on the blade and at its ends by the sealing disk. Thus the passage of flames outwardly along the blade is prevented.
The fuse is simple, contains few parts and therefore inexpensive to manufacture. What I desire to claim is 1. In a renewable fuse, the combination of a tubular body, a terminal blade arranged to extend through the end of the body and provided with a lateral abutment and with shoulders adjacent the outer side of said abutment, a slipped down over the end of the blade and rest on said abutment and the end of the said washer and body having interengaging portions which prevent relative rotation between the parts, a sealing disk having an open aperture with parallel sides forming a pair of le s and arranged to be slid over the face of the washer, the legs of said disk straddling the blade and engaging the shouldered portions thereof to hold the washer against the abutment, portions of the disk and the washer interengaging to prevent relative rotation of the disk and washer, and an annular cap screwed onto the end of the body and having an inwardly extending flange which engages the sealing disk and clamps it and the washer fixedly to the body.
2. In a renewable fuse, the combination of a tubular body, a terminal blade arranged to extend through the end of the body and provided with a lateral abutment and with shoulders adjacent the outer side of said slotted washer arranged to be,
abutment, a slotted washer arranged to be slipped down over the end of the blade and rest on said abutment and the end of the body, said washer and body having interengaging portions which prevent relative rotation between the parts, a one-piece sealing disk having a central open aperture and arranged to he slid over the face of said washer and to straddle the blade and engage the shouldered portions of said blade to hold said washer against said abutment, an annular cap screwed onto the end of the body and clamping the sealing disk and washer fixedly thereto, and the washer being provided with a filler block which is straddled by the sealing disk and engaged thereby to prevent relative movement between the disk and the washer.
