CONCEALED WASTE RECEPTACLE Original Filed Marh 9, 1925 INVENTOR ATTORNEY Patented Jan. 6, 1 931 WILLIAM F. nonnrvrs, or NASHVILLE, 'rniv vnssnn CONCEALED wasrn REOEPTACLE I Original application filed filament-3,1925, Serial No. 14,188. Divided and.
9, 1927. Serial No. 166,970.
This case is a division of Roberts, Serial Number 14,188, filed March 9, 1925, for concealed waste receptacles.
The object of this invention is to provide a.
13 strong easily operating guide means for drawers and like receptacles.
'Other ob'ects and advanta es of thein vention will be apparent from the following description, considered in conjunction with the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a perspective view showing a waste receptacle embodying the invention applied to the bottom of a desk. i a
Figure 2 is a longitudinal vertical section through the waste receptacle, certain of. the' elements removably supporting the recep tacle being shown in side'elevation.
Figure 3 is a transverse vertical section through the waste receptacle and through the supporting means therefor.
Figure 4 is a perspective group-view showing a fragmentary portion of the waste receptacle together with co-operative elements for anti-frictionally supporting the waste 2 receptacle for sliding movement. 7
In the accompanying drawings, particular reference being had toFigure 1, 2' indicates the parallel sidewalls of a drawer or receptacle, made of fibre, wood, metal, or the like.
Slide bars 10 are attached to the sides 2 of the receptacle body, preferably by rivets therethrough. Each slidebar is substantially angular in cross sectional contour, and
comprises an arm 8 secured by screws 9 or' like fastening devices, to the upper edge portion of one of the sides 2 and a horizontal arm 10 which extends outwardly from said sides, preferably in the plane of the upper edge of the latter. The arms 10 of each of the slide bars preferably has a depending lip or head 11 at its outer edge. In carrying out the invention, I provide means removably supporting the receptacle on the desk bottom between the lower drawer 15 so that the end I which is substantially U-shaped in cross sectional contour. However, one of the arms of each of the rails 17 is wider than the other this application filed. February arm of therailand is formed with an outv at its edge; The attaching flange 18 is substantiallyparallel to the web portion of the fore will behorizontal when the attaching flanges 18 aresecured against the under side of the bottom rail 13 of the desk by screws 19 rail and the web portions of suchrails, thereor like fastening devices; A plurality of rollers 20 are rotatably. supported between the side flanges 0f=.each of the rails as by means of axial shafts 21 extending transversely of the rails'and having the end portlons thereof extended through alined open- 6 5 ings 22in the said flanges of the rails. I
From theforegoing description of the various parts of the device, the operation. thereof may be readily understood. The receptacle body'is arranged to permit the horizontal flanges 10 0f the slide members 8-10 to' rest upon the rollers with the depending bead 11 wardly extendinglateralattaching flange 18 V disposed between the rollers 20 and the adjacent side flanges of the supporting rails and with the end member 4 at the outer end of the receptacle body. The end member 4 may be provided with a handle 23. During theoperation of the-drawer, the weight of same is carried on the rollers 20, which in turn are carried by the axial shafts 21 and the channel bars 17 the weight of the drawer will serve to rotate the rollers when the drawer is operated horizontally, thereby. providing a rolling contact with minimum friction. The receptacle body may be entirely removed from the supporting means by pulling it outwardly clear of-the guides. Other applications of the invention may be made as will be apparent to those skilled in the art.
In combination apair of horizontally disposed parallel rails, a channel member extending longitudinally of the under face of each rail and having lateral attaching flanges attached to the rails, rollers supported in the channel members for rotation about horizontal axes and disposed directly beneath the rails, a drawer arranged for longitudinal movement between the channel members,
angle rails secured to'the upper edges of the.
side walls of the drawer and having their J e i 7 1,788,328
horizontal flanges lo cated hetweeh the under face bf the rails and the rollers, and a. downwardly extending flange formed on the horizontal flanges of the anglemembers and lying between the rollers and one sidewall of each.- =channe1member to retain thedrawer against lateral shifting. v 7 Y "WILLIAM F.
