Description
Patented Dec. 30, 1930 OTTO KLOTZ, F GOPPINGEN, GERMANY PROCESS FOR THE MANUFACTURE OF TRANSPARENT PAPERS, PARTICULARLY THOSE USED FOR THE PACKING OF EDIBLE ARTICLES No Drawing. Application filed February 25, 192?, Serial No. 171,071, and in Germany October 9, 1926.
The present invention relates to a process for the manufacture of transparent papers, which are intended in particular for bags and other packings for edible articles and eat-ables. The paper which has hitherto been used for these purposes is transparent to a certain extent only, such, for example, as parchment, pergamyn, Waxed paper, oiled paper, etc. This transparency is however so slight that articles packed therein can only advantage such as pergamyn, parchment etc.
but the process is characterized by the fact that such papers of other kinds, e. g. tissue paper can be used for the said purpose.
The process is very simple to carry out and consists in applying a coating of gelatine to the paper which after drying becomes transparent. According to the degree of transparency required the gelatine solution is applied on one or both sides. The thickness of the coating and the manner in which it is applied may be any that is desired. Instead of gelatine other colloidally acting substances may be used. I claim A process for producing a transparent paper particularly for packing edibles, which 0 comprises in coating the outside of both sides of a translucent paper with a solution of gelatine to render it transparent.
