PRICE TAG Filed Oct. '7, 1929 m W ATTRNEYS Patented Oct. 21, 1930.-
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE FREDERICK KOHNLE, DAYTON,'OHIO, ASSIGNOR TO THE MONARCH MARKIHG SYSTEM COMPANY, OF DAYTON, OHIO, A CORPORATION OF OHIO PRICE TAG Applidation filed October 7, 1929. Serial No. 397,775.
This invention relates to improvements in price marking tags or labels'of a type .adhesively applied to the merchandise to be ticketed. Y An object of the invention is to provide a duplex tag or gum .label having the members folded upon one another forming a plural leaf unit with one of the members or leaves carrying an adhesive-for fixing or sticking the tag to the merchandise.
Another object of the invention is to provide a duplex tag with the members separable from one another, and one thereof carrying an adhesive on one-side.
vide a plural leaf gang tag strip having the leaves foldedupon one another to give the strip single leaf dimensions.
Another object of the invention is to provide a gang tag strip combining duplex tags adapted for use in price marking machines.
Other features and advantages of the 111- vention are-more fully set forth in the description of the accompanying drawings 1n which: g
Figure 1 is a perspective view of the improved tag strip showing a variation of the strip unfolded to display the duplex character of'the tags. Y
Figure 2 is a plan view of a duplex tag, as clasped about an edge sheet, the sheet shown in dot-and-dasl lines. Figure 3 is an end or edge viewof the same.
unfolded position rated. t
Figure 5 is anedge view of an individual member of the tag unit.
Referring to' the drawings, 1 indicates a tag or strip of paperof appropriate width for determinate sizes of duplex tags. The
with the members sepastrip longitudinally on one side and within one-half of its width is preferably provided with strips of adhesive 2-2 for securing the tag or label to the goods to be ticketed.
The strip is foldedv upon itself along a medial line to. give singular tag width dimens ion to the strip, and provides in gang form, folded duplex or plural leaf tag 3.
- partially severed from one another by paral- Anotherobject of the invention is to pro- I .marking, the strip is intermittently moved Figure 4 isa plan view of the duplex tag in along the line of Having. d
Each tag unit is adapted when severed from the strip, to be clasped about an edge .of a sheet,.as a page or a leaf of a book, as indicated in Figures 2 and 3, with one member permanently secured by the adhesive and the second free therefrom to be detached if desired. l I
The duplex tags comprised in the strip are. individually identified in folded strip and CO lel slits or notches 5 cut into the folded strip laterally from either one or both-its longitudinal edges. In the drawings the slits or notches are shown cut in from both edges.
The slits, aside from partially severing the tag, provides determinately spaced shoulders or transverse edges adapted to cooperate with and be engaged by feeding devices of a marking machine for advancing the strip in step motions corresponding to the notch The gang arrangement'facilitates in the manufacture, merchandizing and -machine prlce marking of thetags. In machine or advanced to bring the tags of the strip successively into position for printing the price markingdata thereon, and to position a the notches into registry with the severing mechanism of the machine for severing the price marked tags successively from the strip and issue the'same from the machine.
In the folded form of strip, the tags along -one side of a line of the fold or one row, may
be correspondingly pre-printed as to provide 1 an advertising card for the user permanently secured to the goods to be ticketed, the underside thereof containing the strips of adhesive, and the second row used for price marking service detachable from the first the fold as shown in Fig ure 4.
The tag strip is susceptible to be fed into the markin machine or utilized in an unfolded condition for simultaneously printing as the price marking data on both of the duplex tags.
cribed my invention, I claim: An article of manufacture, comprising, a
gang duplex tag strip of a tape folded upon' itself longitudinally providing duplex tags at opposite sides on the line of fold, the strip notched transversely at definite spacing along one or both of the longitudinal edges thereof, to partially divide the tags, and the tags at one side of the line of fold having an adhesive on one side.
In witness whereof, I hereunto subscribe my name.
