IMPROVEMENT IN COMBINED lR'ONlNG-BOARDS AND TABLES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent N 0. 1 77,707, dated May 23, 1876; application filed April 18, 1876.
To all whom it may concern: 7
Be it known that 1, JAMES A. GERAGHTY, of Newark, Essex county, New Jersey, have invented a new and Improved Combined Ironing-Board and Table, of which the following is a specification:
Figure 1 is a vertical section of my improved ironing-board and table, and Fig. 2 is a detail perspective view of the lower side of the ironing-board.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
The object of this invention is to furnishan improved ironing-board and table, which shall be so constructed that when the ironing-board is required for use it may be securely connected .with and supported from the table, and',when
not required for use, can be placed beneath the top of said table, so as to be entirely out of the way.
The invention consists in the combination of the hooks and eyes, the brace provided;
with a hook at its upper end, the flanged plate, and the keepers with the table and the ironing-board, as hereinafter fully described.
A represents the frame, and B the top, of a table. 0 is the ironing-board, which, when not required for use, is slid into holes formed I in the side bars of the upper part of the frame A, and rests upon cleats a attached to said side bars. To the under side of the edge of the table-top B are attached two hooks, D, upon which are hooked two eyes, E, attached to the under side of the end of the ironing board G. The ironing-board G is. supported in a horizontal position by the brace F, the lower end of which rests upon the shoulder or flange of a plate, G, attached to a bar of the frame A, and its upper'end rests in a socket formed-in the under side of the board 0, and has a hook, f, formed upon it, to hook upon a keeper, H, attached to the board 0. The keeper H is so formed that when the ironingboard. 0 is not in use the brace F may he slipped through the keeper H, and its upper end inserted in a keeper, I, attached to the under side of the outer end of said board 0, as shown in Fig. 2.
Having thus described my invention, I
1 claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The combination of the hooks and eyes D E, the brace F, provided with the hook f, the flanged plate G, and the keepers H I, with the table A B and the ironing-board O, substantially as herein shown and described.
