My improved lunger switch as designated by the numeral 2l attached to the said bracket 22 by means of slots 4l in the said bracket 22 to slidably accommodate the protruding portion of the` said hollow cylinder 27, the slots el extending lengthwise of the bracket 22, the hollow cylinder 27 having a suitably located lug e2 with Va threaded aperture to accommodate the hand screw d3, so that the plunger switch rmay be attached in any desired position on the bracket 22, the bracket 22 being attached at any desired location on the inner wall l2, so that the operating rod 30 will make contact with the inner side of the door 2O of the safe lO, as shown in Figures 1,13 and Ll ofthe accompanying drawing. ln event the safe door is opened, the coil spring 32 will cause the circuit breaker 25 to complete theccircuitand the horn l5 will be sounded, by means of the handle 3e of the rotatable disc 3() the timing of the closing of the plunger switch 2l may be determined, as the plurality of apertures 36 and 37 may only partly coincide, in which event it would take a longer time interval for the air between the piston 29 and the rotatable disc 30 to be expelled, were the plurality of apertures 36 and 37 coincidental, consequently the action of completing the said circuit would be slower. A slow action here described would permit any one such as a bank on'icial familiar with the location of the plunger .switch 2l, to open the safe door and stop the completing of the said circuit so that the said horn l5 would not be sounded. lt should be understood that the same results couldrbe obtained by attaching the plunger. switch 21 on the bracket 2:2 at a relative close position to the door 20.
Referring in particular to my'improved plunger switch as designated by the heretobefore mentioned numerals 26, as heretobefore stated the plunger switch 26 is identical in design and construct-ion to the heretobefore mentioned plunger' switch 21 but is attached to any part of 'the building so that the said operating rod 30r will make contact with any part of the outer surface of the said safe l0, preferably the bottom of one of the legs el as shown in Figures l and 2 of the accompanying drawing, so that in event the safe is moved the coil spring 3Q will cause the circuit breaker 29 to complete the circuit and the horn will be sounded.
Having described my improved safe and my improved plunger switch fully its use and manipulation is obvious. lt should be understood that my improved device may be made of any suitable materials such as used in devices of this nature.
' lNhile I have above described the preferred form, construction and arrangement of the several elements employed, it will be understood 4that the device is nevertheless, susceptible of considerable modification therein, and l therefore reserve the privilege of resorting to all such changes as be fairly embodied within the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed.
Having thus described my invention, what l claim as new, and desire to protect by Letters Patent of the United States is as follows ln a cylinder and piston type circuit closer, a means for retarding the piston motion, comprising a cover having a base portion and a flange portion, the flange portion being attached to the end ofthe cylinder, providing a space between the end of the cylinder and the base portion, a disc rotatively mounted in the space, the flange portion of the cover.
being formed with a slot, a handle attached to the disc and projecting from the slot, the base portion ofthe cover being formed with a plurality of apertures, the disc being formed with a plurality of apertures alignable with the apertures of the base portion in one position of the disc, the handle being movable to turn the disc to disalign the said apertures, and a leaf spring attached to the handle, the ends thereof engaging against the flange portion so as to hold the rotatable disc in adjusted positions, to adjust the rate of retardation of the piston.
