NEW YO K, N. Y., A CORPORATION OF NEW YORK y INFANTS BONNET Application filed June 26,
This invention relates tonew and useful improvements in head coverings generally, although more particularly to infants bonnets.
Among the several objects of my invention is to provide an infants bonnet with a readily detachable ornamental member whereby ornamental members of different characteristics may be interchanged whenever desired; to provide such detachable connections which will securely hold the member in place and yet permit of its ready removal whenever desired, and to provide such a covering which is simple in construction and cheap to manufacture.
l/Vith these and other objects in viewwhich will more fully appear, the nature of the invention will be more clearly understood by following the description, the appended claims, and the several views illustratedin the accompanying drawings.
In the accompanying drawings:
.Fig. 1 is aside elevation of an infants bonnet constructed in accordance with my invention, I v
Fig. 2 is a similar view but with the ornamental member removed,
' Fig. 3 is a transverse sectional view showing the application of the detachable fastening means,
Fig. 4 is a bottom mental member,
Fig. 5 is a view similar to Fig. 1 but showin a modified form of an infant7s bonnet,
ig. 6 is a side elevation thereof but with the ornamental member removed, and
Fig. 7 is a bottom plan View of the ornamental member shown in Figs. 5 and 6.
Like reference numerals designate corresponding parts throughout the several figures of the drawings. V
Referring to the drawings, and particuplan view of the orna- .larly to Figs. 1, 2 and 3, I have shown an infants bonnetA which forms a top portion 5,
An elongated ornamental member B of any suitable design or character is pos1t1oned along the front edge of the covering or bonnet A and extends from a point adjacent the 1928. Se n No. 288,514.
lower edge of'one side portion, across the top portion and terminates ad acent the, lower edge of the other side portion.
' I have provided detachable connecting means whereby the ornamental member B may be readily attached to or detached from. the bonnet A, or whereby different ornamental members B may be readily interchanged as may be desired. F orthis purpose, I have provided the bonnet A and the ornamental member B with a plurality of coacting connectors which in this instance are illustrated as consisting of snap fasteners, the stud mem- "bers9 being secured to the outer face of'the bonnet and the socket members 10 being secured to the under face-of the ornamental member; In order to securely retain the ornamental member B in proper position, I have positioned two of the stud members 9 adjacent the lower front corners of the side portions. 6, .6'and havesecured two of the stud members '10 to the under face of the ornamentalmember B at points adjacent the ends of said member. In order to further retain the' ornamental member B against movement eaten relative to the bonnet A, intermediate the end fasteners, I have attached one of the stud members 9 to the front of the top portion 5, and a cooperating socket member 10 to the under face of the ornamental memberB at a point intermediate the end stud members 9, 9.
. In them'odification shown in Figs. 5, 6 and 7 the bonnet C likewise includes a top portion 11, sides 12, a closedback portion 13v and an open front 14. In this form, however, I have provided the bonnet with a forwardly extending brim 15 which is secured'tothe front edge of'the side and top portions and is coextensive therewith. I have secured the stud members 16 in relatively similar positions as those described in connection with the form shown in Figs. 1 to 4, with the exception that these stud members are located intermediate the bonnetproper and the'brim 15 thereof. The elongated ornamental mem- Y tiall on the bonnet proper and partially on the rim 15, and therefore the brim l5 and the bonnet proper function to support and further retain the ornamental member D in proper position.
, It is of course to be understood that the details of structure and arrangements of parts may be variously changed and modified Without departing fromthe spirit and scope of my invention.
I claim: I
1. The combination of a head covering forming a top portion, side portions, a closed back and an open front, and a brim eXtending forwardly from the front edge of the top and side portions and attached thereto along a line extending from a point at one side along the advance edge of said top portion and to a point at the opposite side, and an elongated ornamental member extending along the Wholelength of the line of attachment of the covering and the brim, and means to detachably secure the ornamental memher to the line of attachment at its ends and intermediately of its ends.
, 2. The combination of a head covering I forming a top portion, side portions, a closed back and an open front, an elongated member attached to the head covering along the edge defining the open front thereof and extending forwardly from said head covering, an elongated ornamental member overlying the line of attachment of the first mentioned elongated member with said head covering, and means for detachably connecting the ornamental member at its ends and intermediately of its ends to said head covering.
111 testimony whereof I herentoaflix my signature. LOUIS RUDNICK.
