The invention relates to an amusement device for bathing beaches, pools, and the like, and has for its object the provision of a plurality of standards erected in the water and 5 having grooved pulleys mounted thereon on which is trained an endless cable or other flexible element to which is secured spaced lead lines to be attached to boats or other floating objects or that may be grasped by bath- 10 ers, said flexible member being actuated by a suitable motor located on the land or any other convenient location and geared to the cable to maintain it in operation.

The invention will be described in detail 5 hereinafter and will be found illustrated in the accompanying drawings in which Figure 1 is a top plan view of the amusement device, and

Figure 2 is a side elevation of themechanism for operating the device.

Referring to the drawings in which similar reference characters will be used to indicate corresponding parts in both views, the im proved amusement device comprises aplurality of standards 1 that are erected on the bottom of the pool or other bathing resort, the number of standards 1 selected for illustration being three, but it will be apparent that any number of standards may be ems ployed depending upon the size of the pool and the number of bathers or amusement seekers to be accommodated. Each of the standards 1 is provided at its upper end with a reduced circular bearing2, the bearing to carry the driving means, to be hereinafter described being designated 2 and of suflicient length to ournal the sleeves 3 forming a hub for two grooved pulleys designated 4 and 5, respectively, 6 indicating grooved pulleys journaled on the bearings 2 on the other standards 1. The device may be operated by any suitable means, a motor 10 being selected for the purpose ofillustration and may be erected on the shore or. on a pier built out into the water, as may be found most convenient and is connected to the pulley 5 by train of gearing suggested at 11, 12 indicating an idler for one of the flights of the belt or cable 13 trained on the pulley 7 and actuated by said train of gearing l1.

lVhat is claimed is 1. An amusement device for bathing pools, comprising standards adapted to be located in a pool, pulleys having peripheral grooves journaled onsaid standards, a flexible member trained in the grooves of said pulleys,

the flange under. the groove in each pulley being relatively Wide to prevent said memher from dropping off the pulleys, means to actuate said flexible member from above, and lead lines secured to said flexible member and adapted for attachment to objects to be pulled through the pool. 7

2. An amusement device for bathing pools, comprising standards adapted to be located in a pool, pulleys having peripheral grooves journaled on said standards, an endless flexi ble member trained in the grooves of said pulleys, the flange under the groove in each pulley being relatively wide to prevent said member from dropping off the pulleys, a drive pulley located above and connected for simul taneous rotation-with one of said pulleys, a motor geared to said drive pulley, and lead lines secured to said flexible member and adapted for attachment to objects to be pulled through the pool.

In an amusement device for bathing pools having standards adapted to be located in a pool, said standards having reduced circular bearing members for pulleys, one of said bearing members being elongated, a sleeve journaled in said elongated bearing member, two pulleys secured to said sleeve one above the other, the lowermost of said pulleys alined With the pulleys on the other earing members, an endless flexible member trained on said pulleys, and the upper pulley on the sleeve geared to a power source.
