This invention relates to leggings.
rilhe object of the invention is the production of leggings which can be Worn byY men, Women and children, to protect their hosiery from mud and Water, and also prevent injury to the user from the bites of mosquitos or other insects. The leggings also protect the limbs of the user from the effects of excessively cold Weather and are specially useful for golf players. The second object of the invention is the production of leggings of cheap material, and Which are shaped to conform to the foot and leg of the wearer to snugly cover the same when Worn. The third object of the invention is the production of leggings which are light in Weight and which can be quickly and easily secured in place on the wearer and present a neat appearance.
In the accompanying Vdrawings Fig. 1 represents a perspective View of one of the i1nproved leggings in place on the left leg of the user; Fig. 2 shows an elevation of one of the leggings adapted to be used for the e5 right leg of the user; Fig. 3 indicates an inside elevation of the members of a left legging before being connected to eachother and Fig, 4 shows a top View of the members of the legging indicated in F ig. 3 assembled and ready for use. y
The leggings are made right and left, and are similar in construction and shape.
Referring to Figs. 1, 3 and i the left legging comprises the central member 15 and the end members 35 and 411. The central member 15 is shown having the longitudinal concaved front edge 20, the longitudinal return curved rear edge 21, the straight top edge 22 and the curved bottom edge 23. The member 15 flares at its bottom portion as shown at 24. A strip 25 of adhesive plaster, in this instance, is fastened to the central member 15 adjacent to and overlapping its, edge 20, by means of the adhesive in the plaster. Openings 2b, 27, 28 and 29 extend through the strip 25, the opens 26 and 28 also extend through the central member `15. A strip 30, of adhesive plaster, in this instance, is fastened to the central member adjacent to and overlapping 'longitudinal curved edges ll2 and 43. lcent to the curved edge 413 are formed the its edge 21, by means of the adhesive in the plaster'. Openings 3 1, 32, 33 and 3i extend through the strip 30, and the openings 32 and 311 also extend through the central member 20.
The outer member 35 is indicated With longitudinal curved edge 36 and the longitudinal curved edge 37, and has formed therein the openings 3S and 39. The lower portion'of the member 35 is flared as indicated at 10.
'T he outer member 11 is indicated With the Adj aopenings 14 and 45. The lower portion of the member 411 is flared as indicated at 16.
To assemble the members of the legging, the edge 37 of the member 35 is located adjacent to the edge 21 of tie member' 15 and said members 15 and 35 are connected to each other' by the strip 30 and its adhesive. The edge L13 of the member 411 is located adjacent to the edge 20 of the member 15 and the members 15 and l1 are connected to each other by the strip 25 and its adhesive.
To the lower portion of the central member 15 and the member il are fastened 'the ends of a pair of straps 50 and 51, and which latter' are also fastened to each other. T hey are in this instance made of a pair of strips of adhesive plaster.
Through the openings 26, 27, 31 and 32 is passed a tie string and through the openings 28, 29, 33 and 34 is passed a tie string 56.
The members 15, 35 and 41, in this instance, are made of Waterproof paper, but ordinary paper, a light fabric or other suitable material may be used. Instead of the strips of adhesive plaster 25 and 30, a fabric or other suitable material may be used.
Referring to Fig. 2, the legging is shown for the right leg of the user and is indicated With the members 35 and 41, the strap 50 and the tie strings 55 and 56.
To secure the leggings in place, the members thereof are located in open position and the straps 50 and 51 are brought under the instep of the foot, and the member 15 is brought against the limb of the user. N ext the edge portions of the members il and 35 nre brought to overlap each other and the tie cords 55, 56 and tied in place.
Various modifications may be made in the invention and the present exemplifioation is to be teken as illustrative and not limitetive thereof.
Having described my invention what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
l. l'n a legging the combination of e oentral member, :L pair of end members, strips of materiel connecting the longitudinal edges of the Central member and e longi-V tudinal edge of each ot the end members, seid strips having openings, said openings also extending through the central member end the end members, tie Cords extending through seid openings, and e strap Connecting said Central member and one of said end members.
2. lfn a legging the Combination of a eentrel member of Water proof peper, a pair of end members of Water prooil peper, strips of adhesive plaster connecting the central member and the end members at 'their longi tudinel edges, said central member, end members and strips having openings, and tie cords extending through seid openings to secure the legging in place on the leg and over the instep oi. the user.
