This invention relates to improvements in tobacco pipes and has for its principal object the provision of means for cooling the smoke drawn through the pipe and preventing nicotine from entering the mouth of the user.

Another object of this invention is to provide in the pipe construction means for retaining a piece of absorbent therein which absorbent serves to readily absorb products of combustion and condensation and after use may be quickly replaced.

Another object of the invention is to provide a unique construction of the pipe so 1 that the same can be readily disassembled for cleaning purposes.

Other objects and advantages will be apparent during the course of the following description.

In the accompanying drawings wherein for the purpose of illustration is shown a preferred embodiment of my invention, the numeral 5 designates a tobacco holding bowl which has integrally formed therewith a barrel 6 in communication with the bowl through the medium of a passageway 7. The barrel 6 is suitably channeled to provide a restricted bore 8 and an enlarged chain her 9. The barrel has also formed therein a channel 10 and a shoulder 11 the purpose of which will be later described.

Closing one end of the barrel, I propose to employ a plug 12 while the opposite end of the barrel detachably receives thereon a centrally bored stem 13. Adapted to abut the shoulder 11 is a disc 14 which carries thereon a piece of aluminum wire 17 that extends longitudinally of the barrel and is received in the bore of the stem 13. In this disc I propose to also mount a short section of a tubular pipe indicated by the numeral 16 that serves to establish communication between the channel 10 and the chamber 9, while slidably secured 011 the aluminum wire rod 17 is a piece of absorbent 18 that conforms to the shape of the barrel, which absorbent has one extremity thereof positioned beneath the tube 16 and the other extremity contacting a cap 19 through which the rod 17 extends.

This cap has spaced perforations 20 formed therein and is detachably secured to a reduced portion of the stem as indicated at 21.

From this construction it will be obvious that smoke coming through the passageway 7 will enter the channel 10 then pass through the tube 16 thence through the chamber 9 depositing moisture on the absorbent 18 and thereafter entering the cap 19 through the openings 20 and finally passing out through the central bore of the stem 13.

The absorbent will serve to collect the nicotine while the cap defines a cooling chamber that serves to cool the smoke before the same reaches the mouth of the user.

It will be obvious from this construction that the pipe can be readily disassembled for cleaning purposes and that the absorbent which is slidably mounted on the rod 15 can be easily replaced after it has served its desired function.

In the foregoing description constructed in connection with the accompanying drawings it will be further obvious that I have devised a smokers pipe that will readily accomplish all of the objects above set forth.

It is to be understood that the form of my invention herewith shown and described is to be taken as a preferred example of the same and that various changes relative to the material, size, shape and arrangement of parts may be resorted to without departing from the spirit of the invention or the scope of the subjoined claim.

Having thus described my invention, claim A tobacco pipe comprising a bowl, a barrel having a chamber formed therein and in communication with said bowl, a. lug removably secured in one end of said barrel, a centrally bored stem detaohably secured in the opposite end of said barrel, a disc mounted in said barrel and ositioned in proximity to said bowl, an e ongated rod connected to said disc and extending through the bore of said stem, an absorbent removably secured on said rod, a perforated cap connected to said stem and interposed between the same and the absorbent, said cap receiving therethrough the elongated rod,

r and a tubular member carried by'said disc for establishing communication between said bowl and said absorbent and adapted to deposit moisture upon the absorbent in the barrel of said pipe.
