Description

June 3, 1930. w. E. TRENHOLM BATHING BEACH FLOAT Filed-Meirszh 19, 1928 abtomq Patented June 3, 193%) WILLIAM E. TRENHOLM, E EVELETH, HEINNESOT-Z-Lv v BATHING-BEACH FLOAT Application filed March 19, 1928. Serial No. 262,720.-
This invention relates to floats and has special reference to a bathing beach float particularly adapted for use in water sports.
The principal object is to produce a device of this character having novel and attractive features for the practice of water sports.
Other objects and advantages of the invention will appear in the further descripion thereof.
Referring now to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this application: and
wherein like reference characters indicate like parts Figure 1 is a topplan view partly in section of one of my improved floats ;and
Figure 2 is a section taken on the line 22 of Figure 1, and somewhat enlarged.
1 represents a platform or deck mounted upon two spaced floats 2 of any desired construction; the two here shown-being air tight rectangularly shaped tanks, onev adjacent either end of the deck 1;
Intermediate of these tanks and depend ingly supportedin any desired manner as by the brackets 3 is mounted the shaft 41, extending transverse thedeck land to some consit erable distance therebeyond.
Upon either projecting end of this shaft is mounted a hollow, water tight elongated cylinder 5, preferably made of metal and covered with a heavy ribbed rubber matting 6; these cylinders being loosely and rotatably mounted upon the shaft. The outermost ends of the cylinders I propose to have convex or dish-like so as to permit of the holding nut 7 being inboard of a plane with the end of 'the cylinders to avoid danger of oneplaying with the device fouling themselves thereupon.
To the shaft 4; and centrally beneath the deck I have shown a clamp 8 fixed thereto and to which the anchor chain 9 is attached, or as is obvious this attachment of the anchor chain may be accomplished in any other desired manner so that the float may be anchored an place desired in the water.
. Mounted upon either end of the deck I have illustrated an inclined ladder 10 which may terminate upwardly above the deck in the arched rail like structure 11, and the lower portion of the ladder being provided with vention.
suitable spaced rungs. 12 providesconvenient means for mounting the float from the Water.
As a means for holding the shaft 4 in position I have showna set collar 13 mounted thereupon just inboard of the brackets 3; 7
From the foregoing it is evident that I have devised a very practical and attractive float having extending therefrom'the cylindrical rotatable floatsindependently of each other upon which the sport of log rolling may be ing manner, and that various modifications of the device as here shown may be resorted to without departing from the spirit'of the m- 'Having thus described my invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:
1. A float of the class described comprising a buoyant body portion, and a. rotatable boyant member extending laterally from the body portion for the purpose described.
2. A float of the class described comprising a buoyant body portion, having extending from either. side thereofan independent, buoyant rotatable cylinder for the. purpose described.
3. A float of the class described comprising a body portiom and spaced independently rotatable, buoyant cylinders attached to said body portion, and means for anchoring the 4:. A float of the class described comprising body portion, and laterally extending ropracticed in a most interesting and fascinat In testimony whereof I aflix my signature.
WILLIAM 'E. TRENHOLM.
